I have the Injen SRI and am wondering how I should clean the filter...i see lots of sand/salt and junks laying between the mesh, do I just use a vacuum to suck those out (hope it didnt sound too stupid)....thanks in advance.....

Go to a local auto parts store and purchase recharging kit(cleaning kit) from either K&N, Injen, or AEM..... I do not recomend using other soap to clean since it could shrint the cotton filtering element. Any of that cleaning kit shows the cleaning instructon so you can just follow the instruction. ( make sure the filter drys completely before re- oiling..../ do not use any heat to dry-natural air drying is must).

About how often should the filter be cleaned?

Replaced?
"Can my filter be cleaned or does it need replacement?
All Injen Air Filters can be cleaned using cotton gauze air filter cleaners and oil that can be purchased from most major auto part stores.
We suggest cleaning the filter every 30,000 miles or when it becomes visibly black in color. We recommend examining the filter every 9,000 miles."

im gonna constantly clean mine, i got the new AEM dryflow filter and gonna order some of that cleaning solution and see how that works

I used the K & N filter clening kit on my Injen SRI. They're about $9.95 at Advance Auto PArts. They (k & n) recommend cleaning and recharging about every 50k I think. In Florida that's too long with all the sand/dust. If it isn't bad enough to clean, take the filter off and just tap it on the end wuth filter grooves downward, slowly rotating. This will dislodge any loose debris.

For your next cone, get the stainless steel weave one from auto zone. It's expensive, but you can just scrub it with a toothbrush and some water and it's clean. I have one similar to the one they have at auto zone. It has an open end, all stainless filtering. I've had it for like 2 years...
