Insurance costs as Sports car or Coupe?

Are insurance rates on a 2006 Tiburon going to be billed as a sports car therefore more expensive...or just a standard rate?

Thanks a ton!

Every car is put into a classification by insurance underwriters. I'm not sure exactly where on the scale the Tib falls in, but I can tell you it's pretty high. I've had insurance on 3 different Hyundais in my life: 1999 Elantra, 2005 Tib, and 2008 Santa Fe. The Tib has been the most expensive of the 3 by far.

But there are 100 other variables that affect premiums too. Any good insurance company should be able to tell you roughly what a Tib would be for you.

Tiburons are labelled as Sports Cars. The older RD models are Sport Compacts. I was paying $130/mo on my tib. PA w/ no tickets or accidents... Age 18-20.

That makes sense. The driver of a 2012 Corvette is more likely to be a good driver and not a teen than that of a Tiburon. There are exceptions to both, but insurance companies depend on generalizations.

depends on the company, but most will say that a 2 door car is a sports car

the new voloster turn will be hard to sure

is it 2 door? is it 4 door? no, its a 3 door...

17 Years old here, and my 2003 Tib GT Auto has the same cost of insurance as my previous car that I had when I was 16 (a 1996 DeVille)... For some reason my Tib didn't cause my insurance to rise at all, but the 2004 Mustang I was also looking at would've made my insurance go up another $10-$15 dollars.

No Accidents/Tickets & Discount for grades here

I think I only pay $60 for full coverage on the tiburon, but I have a multi-car policy and not a teen.
