well if hes stock , I/H/E will do the trick if you know how to drive, or you could boost it lol, but do you have an i4 or a V6 if you have the i4 just forget about beating him in general unless you turbo it, the V6 with I/H/E would be a good race

First of all. Are you looking at an i4 tiburon or a v6? For an i4 the only way you would be able to beat him would be by turboing it. For a v6 you would most likely need every available bolt on mod including intake manifolds.

 

naw if i wanted an i4 it stick with my Elantra. lol.

i really didnt think about racing him till i found out that we hate civic's lol

poopyface civic owners give the car a bad rep. civics are nice DD cars and the Si is pretty quick, but the kid who has a beat up civic with a fart-can exhaust is the problem. plus Honda owners tend to be stuck up and think their cars are the only thing on earth that matters. I have friends like that. Then they can tell their other friends how they got smoke by a Hyundai.

 

To the original poster, if you are buying private, get a little something extra from your financial inst.and buy a decent header and a cols air intake. Save up for a bit then add an exhaust. Unless u can swing it all at once.

Funny... a friend of mine just bought a 1991 Civic DX (EF) and we love it. Even stock (well we've stripped it out as well) it handles really well and has decent power. We cut off the fart can muffler someone had stuck on it and put a coat of dark grey paint over the chrome wheels.

After I/H/E, lowering springs, new wheels and some sticky tires, and a new coat of paint, this car will look and perform the way a civic is meant to. Civics aren't rice burners. Most of the little kids (i.e., 16-20 years old) just think that a turbo muffler and a wing makes their car faster than a V8 Mustang.

yes it will handle well due to its weight, but even after boltons it will be still a snail...stock it has 98hp (probobly 70 whp)

well its good to know that your getting the v6 model...

all you'll need to do is get an intake, headers, and a quality exhaust.

remember, tiburons aren't high reving cars so dont shift at the redline mark, i'd say shift between 5.5-6k rpms so you dont lose any power.

***if your tiburon is used, be sure to change/flush all the fluids and get a tune up! ***

and if your planning on putting a system in your tibby, take it out when you race and also the spare tire too.. that will help alot if your gonna race at the drags.. good luck and hopefully you get the win

 

wrong...on stock shift 1 to 2 and 2nd to 3rd at redline because even though power drops off after 6k, by shifting before redline you land in next gear in too low of rpms where you have even less power

Civic Si just keep getting slower and slower. I drove the 08 and it was a turd on wheels. Couldn't corner worth a damn due to its solid rear axle. Get a V6 and do the mods people have suggested. Spend maybe $700 or so and the Tiburon is just as fast as a Civic Si with more balls low end. If he is a stock 06 si, you are fine. If he has any performance mods done, you are screwed.

 

Now my dad dosnt know im buying a Tiburon because he recently divorced my mom and i cut him out of my life. (long story short he dumped her for one of his collage students (ik its sick))

Your "Daddy" issues will not be squashed in a "race-off." I/H/E is no replacement for the years of therapy that seem to be in order here.

So i found a nice tiburon and im almost all set to go and buy it. so i come on here and find out that you Tiburon people are like arch nemisisisssss (sorry cnt spell) with honda civics.

My arch nemesis is Hand Banana from ATHF

 

just get a gen coupe and ul b all set

 

learn how to drive yout tib and race from a dig, he will not have a chance, our cars accelerate faster, maybe hell catch up a 5th gear, where the diference in hp will be seen, still no civic si from 06 till now has beaten me and I'm completely stock.

im really sorry to hear that. If you have a v6 though then you should be ahead of the game alittle and shouldnt haveto do too much to beat it easily. Mine is in the shop getting the importshark v6 headers on since my stockers cracked and my cat was clogged terribly. =( but while its in this gives me time to get other things. but good luck in your race
