Hey all,
I’ve been meaning to make one of these to keep track of my progress on the tib, so here it is!
I’ve currently got a 2003 GS-R V6 6 speed M/T tiburon with 160xxx km’s.
I’ve owned it for just over a year now and am finally starting to begin my big projects.

My goal is to have a quick, sleek and clean daily driver (even in our horrible winters).

Current Mods:
Hot Shot Cold Air Intake
Slave Cylinder Mod
NGK Ignition Wires
NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs
F/L Headlights
Tail-Light Red-Outs
Custom front grille

ARK GT-F Lowering Springs
17” NJ01 Wheels wrapped in 215/45/17 Champiro 328
Full Audio system including 2 10” JL Subs in ported sealed boxes
Alpine Type S speakers, Alpine headunit w/ booster power pack included.

Let me know what you think so far or if you have any suggestions!

Looks good so far. Couldn't agree more with the plans for the Borla exhaust. It's truly a great sounding piece.

What part of Canada are you from?

Yeah Canada is pretty great. Gotta love our 4 seasons; Winter, Kinda Winter, Road Construction, and Pre-Winter. This winter really doesn't want to end. Hitting 4*C in Hamilton, ON right now

For a second I thought we had the same rims lol! Clean looking Tib, it's very well balanced. I like what you did with the gas cap to match the rims.

JL audio also gets you bonus points :) Sweet ride!
Thanks! :D I'm still unsure of the gas cap actually. I kinda think a brushed aluminum might look better ... with KDM door handles?

It's -7C here right now  But supposed to around 6 for the weekend ... hooray?

Car looks really clean. Sounds like you have a good mod list ahead of you. Do you have plans of heavier modding in the future, F/I maybe or N/A?
Thanks! As much as I would love to throw in a Stage 0 Supercharger, I can't see that being in the budget any time soon. But you never know!

Soon, I will have my most ambitious and challenging project so far.
On both of my rear quarter panels, I’ve got a fair amount of rust that is starting to become an issue.
So, I’ve got a parts car lined up that I will cut the pieces I need out of and will patch weld them into place.

This is what the rust patches look like to give you an idea of what I’ll be in for.

My paint is arriving from a local supplier today and I should be starting in the next couple weekends.
I will take pics of each step that I do. Good to kill this cancer before it gets any worse! :D

The good news is you can find them pretty cheap if you get lucky and snag one from a FS thread. I have seen a few go for less than 2 grand which is very reasonable considering the gains that you get. I should have probably gone that route but instead I went the NA route.

Wow, the rust on my rear panels literally looks exactly the same size/shape as yours on both sides :( Post some pictures if you have time as you go along! Interested in seeing how it turns out for my own journeys...
From what I hear/see that is the most common place for rust for us :( Also, i didn't quite get to it this weekend, although I have acquired all the parts needed. I decided to save it for a weekend where I could really focus on it. That being said, I DID lower my car this weekend :D Pics up soon!

When I got home on Thursday, these were on the step!!

I started the install that night after I searched across
the city for a spring compressor to rent.
The whole process took me a good 6 or more working hours.
The bolts that connected my end links and the bolts
connecting the strut housing to the rotor were all badly rusted
and seized (On 3/4 corners). At one point I had two impacts
and a torch going to get the bolts free. But i did it!

New vs. old springs

And how she currently sits after the install

I love the difference they made. Makes it look much sleeker and sportier in my opinion. :)
I want to paint my calipers soon too... what color is the question. :p

Looks good. I found having two sets of hands made the job a lot easier. The reason it took us so long is cause we were goofing off half the time haha. I think we spent around 8 hours working on it on and off. It was a good ole time. My fiancé at the time was wanting us to hurry up haha

It would have been impossible if I didn't have help with the install. One holding the torch, the other on the impacts haha. It was fun, super good learning experience, although definitely challenging! Before I do my exhaust (and/or headers if I ever get around to it) I will make sure to crack all the bolts a day or two before so the install itself goes smoother :)

Why on earth would you be using a torch to change springs. Unless things were so gunked up that you had no other choice.

Torch was used on the bolts that hold the strut housing to the rotor, I obviously wouldn't have used it unless it was necessary. I'm not exactly sure what you see for winter in Alabama but up here they use so much salt on our roads that it rusts almost everything to **** really quickly. So in other words, I had no other choice. Without the torch there is no way those bolts would have ever come loose. Nothing was damaged and I got my springs on ... so win - win !

I figured the excessive corrosion was the cause for the torch. Winters here are mild in comparison to what y'all see. In my lifespan it has only snowed decently here 3 times. The most I ever saw was around 6 inches of snow that lasted a day or so.
