Thanks for the reply. I've actually purchased from tdot before and had a good experience. I just purchased my Tiburon last night and it has two cannons welded to the stock piping and it is just way to damn loud, and I'm not overly excited on how it looks. Needless to say I'm replacing the exhaust immediately...

Makes sense having huge mufflers and exhaust tips on a stock exhaust just never sounds good. There are a couple aftermarket cat back systems you could look into or you could just get a cheap set of OEM mufflers and tips and weld em in. FYI I have the DC Sports cat back as well and it doesn't sound too loud at all. Noticeably louder over stock but only really when accelerating, when you're cruising it quiets right down. A really good system for little cabin drone and rasp for the price it costs considering it is much cheaper than an ARK or Borla system but is still really good quality.

Wish me luck getting around the CEL issues with headers on the 07-08.
Haha, I won't bother because you can't. Unless you swap the ECU for an 05-06 version, or a tuned one. But you're way past that now anyway. I really like what you've done with the car though. I'll be going the Stage 0 probably around spring next year, already have the parts. Then it all has to come off again for emissions in 2017, yay.

Also, I guess your car confirms it for me... that there are 2007-2008 models out there with a rear window wiper. I thought they discontinued that after '06, but just saw some pics online of an '07 Tuscani the other day with one. Was that a Canada/Europe/Aus. only thing for those years??

How much did your supercharger kit cost you?
I bought it off a member here for $1800 USD (roughly $2400 CAD due to our crappy dolaar exchange rate right now) shipped including the blower, S/C manifold, 3.4" pulley and 70mm NGM TB, but was the right buy especially given shipping included and the NGM 70MM. I've seen them go on here for anything from $1500-$2200 depending on if shipping is included, condition, additional parts etc.

I've read a couple things about getting past the CEL issues with the 07-08s, but we will see. My dad is a tech and thinks he'll be able to figure something out. If not then oh well, go to the junk yard and grab a 05-06 ECU for $20 or get it tuned, or just live with the CEL :p

And thanks I'm happy with how it's coming together. I only planned on doing the CAI this year but everything kinda just came together and got some really killer deals on I/H/E and my Sniper 0 set up with the 70mm TB I just couldn't haha. I will most likely upgrade to a cooled stage 1 at some point and really beyond that probably wont go much further in terms of performance besides a tune. Gonna focus on some small stuff now for awhile (Tuscani T badges, brakes, high rise spoiler, maybe a front lip, got some leather to fix and restore on the interior, custom sub box to make, DC front strut bar, clean/ paint the engine bay, maybe a UR rear sway bar haha we will see). Gotta get it out to the dyno eventually :p

And yeah I'm not sure never really noticed other 07-08s without the rear wiper.

So have I which is why I explored the possibilities. I have an 05-06 stock ECU if you want it, but it may not be worth the cost to ship it to Canada. I bought it for testing things to eliminate the CEL. Unfortunately the emissions monitors were not the same from 05-06 to 07-08 and my car was tested per the newer '08 CAN-OBDII regs based on the VIN. I even relocated the upstream O2 sensors from the header primaries to the collectors (to read better) to no avail. Trust me, I spent 2 months this summer trying everything. I don't know how stringent the emissions testing is up there, but here it def won't work. I had to put it back to stock.

Yeah if you come down here, you'll see all the Tibs from 07-08 have no rear wiper. It's less weight and more aerodynamic so we can go faster :p

Any updates?
nothing as of yet. Got my Stage 0 NGM 70mm TB and DC Heaaders to install over my university winter break. Casually looking into some more things to do. Think for a while it will just be small stuff after all the previous mods are installed (ie. Tuscani badges, cleaning up the engine bay, gonna look at making a sub enclosure, fix a curb scrape off one of my rims etc.).

Realistically my next major mods are gonna be looking into some handling upgrades (wont be going full coilovers I dont think but better brake calipers, maybe the slightly larger Koreans spec calipers, dont wanna go through the XG350 conversion I dont think. Will probably also look into some chasis bracing which I think my brother who is a machinist/ metal worker and I may look into doing as some custom pieces rather than ordering the ultra racing braces (we are both pretty adept with that type of fab and have a full shop set up at home, but we will see, dont even have plans as of right now just a thought, probably would just utilize the same designs as the Ultra Racing bars but would just be lots cheaper. We were also gonna look into designing a milled stainless insert for the rear motor mount since solids are hard to come by and or cost too much and we have a lathe at home.

Down the line I'd like to look into a lightweight flywheel and a stronger clutch but I will make do with the stocker that is remarkably still in really good shape coming up on 200,000 km. Will probably just run it until it needs to be replaced and then go with the upgrade. After that who knows maybe a Stage 2? but thats a long way off, gotta get some kind of gauge set up, tune etc.

AND eventually down the line I'm gonna repaint it, thought about vinyl wrapping it but as I not spending any more large sums soon I might as well wait a little while longer and save the extra $$$ to just have it painted.

Thanks for the interest though

Found this beauty while looking through my photos the other day and just thought I'd throw it up. I love the under axle look and sound of the DC cat-back exhaust.

Hi, nice build! I've also got an 08 GT.

I'd say go with the XG350 upgrade. I had them installed a while back with hawk HPS pads. It was definitely one of the best mods I've done to accompany my supercharger. Just adds a whole lot more confidence when you're feeling heavy footed (which is almost all the time with a blower).

Will be following your build.

Hey thanks its coming along I think.

I thought about the XG350 brakes, but there is a guy local to me who is selling his bigger single piston calipers for a really decent price so that was really the main decision maker haha. But yeah I've heard they are a nice upgradee just wasn't super up for having to replace all the rotors along with the caliper as well. Maybe eventually I'll upgrade again after the bigger single piston calipers to the XG350 when more $$$ is available who knows.

Agreed, I think that's my favourite exhaust that has been offered for our platform.

Yeah I was originally a little concerned with the under axle design being too low, but after having driven it now for almost 5 months its never scraped to my relief, just means that any future plans to lower it are a little unreasonable. It could use a good cleaning and polishing though, just has some built up oil spray underneath.

I guess while I'm here I do have a small update. I just got my high rise spoiler to replace the stock low rise, and best of all it was free out of a wreckers! Much preferable to paying and having one shipped. Needs a little bit of touch up and polish on the clear coat but my uncle has a body shop so wont be a problem. Looking forward to the new look :). I'll post a before pic and after once I get it painted and installed.

Hell yeah man, good looking and I like the parts list
You should enjoy the stg 0 nicely! The header install was a pain, the rear manifold bolts are not fun getting too. But well worth it.

thanks man. Yeah I am quite enjoying the look of the high rise ans the T badges, think they spruced it up a bit from the low rise and Hyundai badges.

And yeah those rear bolts are a pain, gonna try and do it with the engine still in but if frustrations grow we may just pull the engine and do it that way.

Figure while I'm doing all this I am also gonna get my machinist brother to mill me some stainless steel mounts.

Some recent progress as the winter work continues on my Tibby.

Good Progress, got the front header cleaned up and on no problem.

for comparison this is what it looked like before.

Not so much progress:
Image

What i had originally thought was a build up off gunk upon first glance turned out to be a cracked weld separated from the tubing on 2 of the 3 pipes on the rear header....bummer. It actually honestly looks like the factory weld just missed contact with the piping as there is no real evidence of any cracking of the weld or either of the tubing or the flange surfaces.

Problem resolved: had the crack welded up here by a local shop. Not the cleanest looking welds i must say as I like to say I'm a fairly competent welder myself. However, given I've never done any welding that needed to endure extreme heat and stress I though best to leave it to a professional, and the fact I got it done for free on the account they owed my dad a favor helped in that regard. Got the rear header all cleaned up and looks good as new.
Image

Just gotta get the rear mounted, mate up the Y-Pipe and make a cutout to insert a cat (which I have yet to get) and then its on to the supercharger.... that is after my dad fiddles around with the dreaded CEL issue on 07-08s. and then eventually getting around to cleaning the engine bay. Believe I found a pretty good deal on some NGK spark wires as well so that may be coming in the near future.

Progress continues

Some more progress.

Got the Y-pipe fitted up and everything fits great, a little tight but all is good :).Eventually going to get a cat welded in but still undecided on which one.

You'd think so but it's not actually bad. If it helps, I'd do things progressively, which helped me to never scrape the exhaust (minus like two times on really steep entries).

First, I had my car on lowering springs, so I was a little more careful of surroundings, but no big deal really. Then I installed my lip, which is almost 0.75" lower than stock. A little more careful, but overall no issue. Then I replaced the springs with coilovers. A little lower, but again with the experience from the previous setup this relatively baby step was ok to deal with. Not to mention the coils are stiffer so in many ways it was less likely for me to scrape the exhaust compared to the softer springs. I'd be more concerned about the body if you are planning on lips / splitters. Now, I plan on producing splitters to put underneath the lip kit, meaning ground clearance will be significantly less than 4". I am perfectly confident with this. I do have scrape marks on my front lip, but meh, I'll just fix it up every half year or so lol.
