I have researched this and have just about made up my mind, but am still open for suggestions. Here is a summary of what I want out of my I/H/E and what I have chosen to meet those needs. Have I made the best choices?

My goal is to bring out all the horsepower I can out of my engine regarding my price range. Horsepower is priority one. I also want these to be a good building stone for a future turbo. So please consider all that when responding to my questions. Also, to make this challenging, I am not spending more than 1300 on my I/H.E.

Here are my preferences and what I chose:

intake- Most importantly I must have an intake that fits great and gives me top of the line horsepower. And while I am at it, I might as well make it look good. Based on this I chose the AEM CAI.

Headers- Once again these must have a good fitment while giving me the most horsepower for my pricerange. I do not want to have to spend a ton of time and energy on what could be a simple 3 to 4 hour installation. I also do not want anything that will cause problems and cause me to fix it later.

Exhaust- In addition to it fitting great and getting me a nice horsepower gain, it must be a dual exhaust. I just like dual exhaust better and all the body kits out there are made for them, so I don't want to look like a ricer. Sound, not too much of a big concern. Generally the exhausts I have heard for tiburons do not sound that bad to me. Plus I do not like loud exhaust so I will more than likely end up getting silencers for it anyway. I don't like talking big, I would rather just do my talking on the track.

My calculations, based on information in other threads and websites, say I'll gain a little more than 30 horsepower.

Could I get a little more horsepower and still follow these guidelines and stay within my price range? And speaking of prices, please tell me where I can the best deal for these parts. Thanks

My next mod after this would be a performance ECU. I found one on shark racing that would jump my red line up to 7.5 and other things. What is the best out there?

i got an AEM CAI and its awesome! Also i got a Borla exhaust with it and it has the deep thraoty sound not the high pitched weed wacker sound. I love them together!!! Also I'm looking to get DC Sports Headers to go with them! Theres my $.02!

DC headers are probably the best you can buy right now and if you have Borla exhaust it will sound great. if you get a CAI no matter what your going to have to modify the behind the headlight to get the pipe down low

DC headers are around 400-450
CAI anywhere from 50-250
Borla i think go for around 600

so that should keep you within your budget

Yeah what they said, no matter what you really choose as long as its legit its gonna end up within the same range of horsepower, its just your personal preference on what you want it to sound like and what price they go for.

thats about it.

If you're definitely going turbo in the future, then don't get headers. You'll just have to replace them anyway for turbo manifolds.
unless you have a shop make you a custom up pipe

turbo manifolds? no one makes them for the delta except spinwheel... and thats for twins. I don't think anyone has ever put turbo manifolds on the delta... just stock exhaust manifolds gutted or headers with custom y + up pipe...

besides, if he wants to go turbo, all of this would be worthless... intake pointless, exhaust pointless ( all the tib exhausts are mostly used for n/a apps, generally not allowing enough flow for f/i applications... ie: borla definitely would be bad for f/i)

Well, if you're planning to stay N/A I would probably recommend:
Injen SRI
DC Sports headers
Just about any under axle catback will net the most gains (ex: ARK DT-S)
HOWEVER, like others have said already. If you plan on going turbo, don't bother wasting your money right now. Save it up toward you turbo project.

so you like the setup and future plans i take it ?
any comments on it from experience?
I have aem cai - I had a borla on the car (for sale) and instead of dc headers I have ssa.

The aem is great.
The borla sounded great.
I would trade my ssa's for dc's in a heart beat

Regarding my future plans- The turbo most likely isn't in the near future. Unless I get some kind of raise or I find out I have a rich family member that has secretly left his entire estate to me, my projected time to be done with my turbo is 2009.

Granted, my forced induction is going to be a while, so I want to have some fun till then. With I/H/E and an ECU I would definately have enough to keep up with my buddies.

I haven't really looked too hard into it but I would either get the NGM Stealth turbo kit (I could get that next summer)and upgrade as I go along or I would really save up and go all the way with the Elise twin turbo by Spinwheel (I would get that 2009).

Are you telling me with either turbo there is not an exhaust on the market, even out of my price range, that would provide enough airflow for that kind of forced induction and I would have to make my own?

if your going with a turbo, get the 3in single catback from SFR. thatd be my suggestion. i dunno what you'd go with if you wanna stay dual, but if your gonna get a turbo, you could just have a shop fabricate you an exhaust that would best suit your turbo needs.

Good point...forgot that the intake would be useless as well. I wasn't too sure about the manifolds and what people are using. What about NGM? Didn't they make custom manifolds for the stealth kit?

not much, usually anywhere from 175-300 depending on where you go

If you're serious about not wanting to wait for the manifolds, get:

DC headers or if you can find em Hotshot headers
I have the Injen CAI; it's great and r100s can get you a really good deal.
exhaust is a toss up, they're all pretty much the same just the different sound.
I'd stay away from Greddy as it's way too raspy for me and sounds like rice to me. Also I'm more partial to smaller almost stock sized tips so borla or injen would be my exhaust of choice or get a custom 2.75" with stock mufflers?

go dc sports, u arent gonna find hotshots. they closed up shop a lil bit ago. ive been searching for them for a while. dc sports are really good, but ud need to weld a cat on unless u dont care, or dont need it. i need it to pass emissions here.

and it all depends on what shop you go to in your area to fab. the exhaust for you. buy the muffler and call around and see who gives you the best quote and go with them. lots of people on here go with custom singles with turbos. i think one member i forget who, is running a custom 3 in single exhaust with his turbo (i4) and hes using an HKS ti muffler. sounds awesome.

Another one of these threads!

If you have that kind of budget to work with then here are my suggestions.

Exhaust - they all produce the same gains but they all have their own distinct sound. You wanna stay with something stock looking - go borla. You want something different looking and give a little deeper tone, go ARK or Injen

Headers - Find or steal some hotshots LOL! You will have to have a catalytic converter in SC to pass inspection so get some SSAs, get them ceramic coated. DC Sports are nicer but when you factor in the hi-flo cat, you hit issues. Your call here! If I could do it over again, I would NOT have gone with SSA headers either like fakingrich! However, if I could have gotten them coated, that might be different..

Intake - depending on how much you spend on the headers and have $$$ to play with. AEM CAI FTW! Injen SRI seems to be most popular around here but remember, you will be sucking hot engine air and not fresh cooler air. If you are left with under $70...go with an EBAY CAI !

Be sure to check the for sale section.....LOTS of good deals in there!!!
