Not sure how much she's worth...

Hello all! First off, let me say I'm sorry to have to be making my first ever post in such a manner (I'm not sure where to post this, I've looked around but can't fully tell), but my 2008 Tiburon is currently dead.

Last Friday, my power steering went out on a whim. Apparently, there is an issue with the rack and pinion, the pump a small grease leak in my axel and the hose. Now, I know the quote I got from the mechanic is high, at $2,000, but sadly, I'm about as mechanically savvy as my dog, and even so, checking the resale value of my Tiburon, which has a decent accident on it (someone plowed into my drivers side door many years ago), the resale value is low enough on it today, that for me, the money just isn't worth it putting it into the Tiburon even if I could get the work done, for say, $1200 (and I absolutely can't do it myself).

I'm now left in a predicament. I have another vehicle lined up, so I'm not trading it in. It's not running so I can't take it anywhere. But I also don't know the value of what it might get. I was wondering if someone here could help me out.

Currently my best offer is from a salvage yard at $200 and a free tow.

Some specs of my car are:
'08 Tiburon GT, 95K miles with no discernible engine issues that I know of.
Brand new stereo head unit (nothing special, a JVC with bluetooth, and USB port)
2 25K new tires on the back (nothing special, just that they're new)
2 25K tires on the front put in October (same with the fronts)
New battery

I feel like I could do better than the best offer, but I couldn't even consider what I'd list it at (selling it online is not much of an option for me, as I am only ever home on the weekend and live in an apartment complex), or what a decent counter offer on my part would be. If someone had some help, I'd really appreciate it. Or hell, tell me that the $200 and the tow is the best option. Either way, thanks for reading, and sorry if I'm too dumb to have missed where this would be better off.

Knowing where you live helps, pictures also help.
Maybe a local from here can help out do work.

Honestly, I'm not interested at this point in actually having work done (I've gone ahead and gotten the ball rolling on a newer vehicle that, realistically, fits my needs more now a days anyways), mostly just wondering if the thing has more value that $200 and a free tow. I can't figure out if that's either a good offer, or an extremely low balled one. I'd prefer not to sell, say, $150 low or anything. Right now, I don't have a current photo of it. I have photos of it, from say, a while back, but I haven't taken any recent photos and it's currently still at the auto mechanics shop which is 5 miles away. Overall, it's in fairly good shape (a few knicks in the paint here or there) on the outside. Nothing special in either direction. Not in pristine shape but generally looks fine. No major dings, dents, or anything. I think there's like, a minor ding near one of my doors (I'd guess shopping cart related). That's about the extent of the exterior damage. Color is silver.

I live in Lexington, Kentucky, though. Sorry, didn't even think that was important information! Appreciate the response, as well. Car valuation (realistically anything with cars) have never been my overall strong suit. I can say I've loved my Tiburon for the past 10 years, it's been a great ride. This has been my first real mechanical issue, but the repairs seem over the price of what it's worth (I think my Kelly Blue Book at this point on it, with the accident is $1,500-$1,700), and I could use something with a bit more trunk capacity and space at this day and age.

$200 and a free tow is them giving you scrap value for the car. You could get more if you made a for sale ad and sold it to someone in your area.

That's what I thought, but I really didn't know. $200 seemed light. I figured it was better than the other salvage yards I had heard from ($75 for 2,000 lbs and a tow), but felt it was light. I appreciate it response!

Any suggestions on even a starting price if I listed it? $600 OBO? I wouldn't even know where to begin. I don't want to offend anyone with an offer, but also don't want to be the idiot who gives the thing away for pennies on the dollar.

If the engine runs and truly the only issue is the power steering system and the door dent I bet you could get close to 800-1000 for it.
For all I know, that's the only issue with it. Like I said, I'm not very mechanically inclined, so perhaps there's something else under the hood that I don't know about. But I haven't had any odd noises/shaking, noticeable leaks, I recently had the oiled changed without any negative reports of obvious issues, had the battery changed without issue (well, they couldn't figure out how to actually take the old one out at first, but I don't think damage was caused) and the only report I got back from the mechanic was the issues with the rack and pinion which needs replacing, the power steering pump broke, needing a new hose and the axle grease leak.

Appreciate the information! It's really appreciate it.

Knowing location, maybe some else would buy or know a buyer.
I have seen peeps (Tib and others) delete the PS for more feel. I wouldn't go that way, but that's me.....

If dead set on selling, go high, have a bottom number, and go from there.
If you were closer to me, I would likely offer close to $1000 since I can do my own work and sell for a profit.

I would prefer to keep you in the car and this site.......my opinion.......
