Test Car: 2006 Hyundai Tiburon FX V6 Six Speed ( U.S. SE equivalent)
Mileage: 84,500 Km(~ 52K Miles)
Spark Plug: NGK Iridium IX BKR5EIX-11
Spark Plug Wire: NGK Wire Set STOCK #3878 PART # RC-XX91
I decied to install a new set of spark plugs about 2 months ago when I felt that my car was not starting smoothly during cold mornings, was not idling as smoothly as before and had lost a bit of throttle response , getting close the the 60K Mile mark I decided what the heck and get new spark plugs and wires.
After spending several nights reading through a bunch of reviews in this board and other communities I decided on the NGK Iridium IX and wires based on proven peformance , quality and attractive price.
Because I installed both parts at the same time I cant really provide an independant review for each product , so my review wil be for the plug + wire combo.
PRODUCT REVIEW ( 5 out of 5 ):
Inmediately after the installation ( 2 weeks ago ) I couldnt tell any measure benefit from the upgrade. My guess is that because I disconnected the batter and drain the system energy the ECU was reset , however after the first 100 miles things started to improve and now at around 500 miles after the install I can say that the improvement is very noticiable:
Quality of the wires is excellent and fitment is just perfect , no extra long cable here , the lenght is perfect which make the cable look OEM and another cool feature is the cylinder number on the cable itself.
Im very happy and satisfied wit the purchase and will recommend the change to anyone in need to changed their OEM plugs and wires. Dont spent hundred of dollars in so called " advanced " or "hot" wires. NGK is the real deal , OEM quality and wont burn a hole in your pocket.
INSTALLATION
I wont get into details because there is a lot of DIY here on how to remove the TB ( thanks Ryloth) , the intake manifold and how to revome spark plugs. Just follow them step by step , make sure you have the right tools at hand and you will be good to go.
For a mechanically inclined begginner DIYer like me , it could take you probably 20 to 25 minutes to take out the TB and the IM..it took me like 45 minutes because of a stubborn TB coolant line :3_wink:
Ohh and make sure to keep track of all the nuts and bolts..you dont want to lose anything.

- Idling is much more smooth , feel like a new car , specially on cold
- Throthle response is WAAAY better , specially below 3K RPM
- I suspect fuel economy has improved altough I had no been able to mesure completely yet
