Oil filters: OEM vs. Mobil 1

What is everyone's opinion? I use Mobil 1 MI-104, but i found out Hyundai filters are half the price of the Mobil 1. $10-11 vs. $5-6. I usually go about 4000 miles on my oil change (full synthetic), and i trust the Mobil filters can last that long. but i dont know about the Hyundai filters.

Comments and opinion welcome.

Mobil 1 oil filters are not even made by Mobil.. its made by Champion Lambratories. Hyundai Oil filters are very high quality. somebody at http://www.bobistheoilguy.com cut open a Hyundai Oil filter and it had alot of filtering pleats.

Its just the name "Mobil 1" that suckers people into buying them. The only good product they make is the Mobil 1 Synthetic oil, all there other oils are garbage.
I dont even like Mobil 1 oil, my engine always ticks with it. Not just the Tib, but other cars ive had too. Anyway, I think Bosch fitler are identical to Mobil 1. Thats what i used to use on my old car because they were 1/2 the price, but Bosch doesnt make a filter for our car to my knowledge.

Pure One is not a good filter. sure it has good filteration rate but the oil flow performed one of the worst. As a matter of fact, the original Purulator is better than the Pure One. If you want an Identical oil filter , but with a Cheaper price,, get Advance auto parts brand Oil filters. They are having a buy one get one free sale unlimited amount. I have like 12 of them for my Hyundai and they are quality filters...
Yeah you are right. I only use the Purolator, not the PureOne.

I use Mobil 1 filter because I had a deal on some but I use a bigger version M1-207
Never heard valve train noise with them and my oil stays cleaner allot longer
The synthetic filter element really dose the job

Beforehand I used OEM or WIX gold
Never use FRAM or Quaker State it's only good for Hondass:2_lol:

I thought I recalled reading the print on an OEM Hyundai filter...thought I saw the word 'Fram' printed on there....lol....meh...

Anyhow, OEM all the way. :)

there is actually a TSB about the oil filters, Hyundai claims that using a different brand of oil filter, which is usually different in size, can lead to some sort of pinging..... so use at your own risk i guess..... i personally use mobil 1 oil and OEM filter....
thats if you use a crappy oil filter that doesnt have a relief spring (think thats what it is called) and isn't really a problem I believe, just annoying.

isnt the filter for mobile 1 M1-108? i just did my oil yesterday and thats what the comp said at autozone for Mobile 1
It depends. They changed the filter in 2004-up. The 03s had a bigger fitler. But since they changed the 04s, the books have changed the 03s to the same filter as 04-up. I dont know why

The first time i went into Autozone they gave me this dinky filter, i went to work tried to put it on, and it didnt go on very smooth. I dont remember if the number was MI 106 or 108. So I cross referenced the filter with the ones we use at work (Valvoline). And it said MI-104. I went back and exchanged it, and havent had a problem since. I think the 108 is a small filter, vs the 104 which is a decent sized fitler. But if you want a little extra capacity, the 104 fits perfect. And im sure it will fit on the 04-up

For reference. with Valvoline filters, the 03s used to be VO-39, Now they are VO-54.

what about those silly-looking oil filter coolers they sell? do those really bring the temp down enough to warrant the purchase of such a thing?
