Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

so what does everyone think of meeting at memorial city mall at 8am on saturday? i was thinking we should take i-10 and then head over from there. and when we reach 35, itll take us through south austin and we can cruise through austin till we get to round rock. and if i have to stop by somewhere to do some business for a few minutes., lionel could meet us.

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

hey. what are these walkie talkies I am supposed to have????? I never remember discussing these????

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

Going 10 to 35 is kind of a long way...but its all open for everyones thoughts.
Mine- 290 all the way..cause its a nice drive...and right before Austin around Paige...there is a split that can take you South through Bastrop, Del Valle and South Austin...if we need to David..or it can take us up a little more North where we can catch 35 to Roundrock.
Or..another way is 10 all the way to Luling then up 183..(scenic and some nice twisties)...to Austin..and that still takes us through South part of Austin...
like I said..just some thoughts...open to any other ideas.
I look at it this way...besides going to meet up with all the guys and girls for this meet...we're going for the nice drive...so I dont think we should be in hurry and speed the entire way...we should kick back...relax..and enjoy the drive and sight of us four..and hopefully a couple more Tibs driving up to Austin.

You mean we could care less to what you think... :3_coool:
I just remembered that I need to change my oil this week...my 3k mark is coming up..
so i want to do it before the drive.
I might even change it after the trip too just because the drive to Austin will be a good 'flush' for the engine since i do alot of short driving with work being only ten minutes away from home.

well, i dont want to bother you man. you would have already had a long day. you get off at 7 right? if so, me too. but just call me.... or ill call you too. peace bro. btw, any tools that will do the job? like a dremel or angle sander or something to cut into the metal? if not, im gonna pick up a heavy duty file from home depot

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

You dont need to file or cut anything. All I did was bend the opening back a little with a pair of pliers. Very simple.

you might want to try to figure out where those support brackes go. With the engine flexing, it needs some support so you won't rip the rubber connectors (whatever they are called)

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

yeah i know. im trying to drive pretty slow untill i can let tom take a look at it. so yeah, i let it open once tday and it sounds nice. until i can get the brackets on though im gonna keep it at the speed limit and no punching the gas too hard.

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

Fort Hood is only 1 hour north of Austin about 2-2.5 hours from huston. i actually have family in huston. but we never get time off and we are not allowed to leave post ("allowed" lol) i have been on since late 2002 i bought my car sept of 02 but i usually hang out in "louisiana tibs" the thread i started in the south east forum. but since im here now i might as well make some new friends!

About your intake. it would be a good idea to take a fuel hose or some other rubber hose and slice it in half longways to line the metal hole in the car that your intake pipe passes through right next to the battery and the filter itself. My pipe is all messed up from rubbing agenst the car, but after i put the hose it hasn't gotten worse. and it looks a lot better if you had to cut at your car to fit the pipe (wish i hadn;t done that)

You are probably fine, just don't punch it alot. That is where the flexing it going to occur.
