Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

Whazzup ya'll I went to jail last night!
I went out drinking, and I decided I was NOT OK to drive, so I asked my sober G/F to drive, I fell asleep and when I woke up I was getting arrested for PI apparently she decided to see how fast my car really is once I fell asleep, and got us both thrown in jail for doing 110 MPH on 59...

so thats my latest story... I just got the car out of the impound ($200.00)

Drinks - $50.00
Bail - $300.00
Getting the car out of impound - $200.00

Realizing you shouldn't let a chick drive your fast car - PRICELESS!

WTF?? Those cops shoulda given you a frickin' medal for having enough sense to know you can't drive! It's not your fault your G/F has no sense. F**k man, she either better give you the $550 for your trouble or a blowjob every 6 hours for the next year... and no spitting either! LOL

Thanks for the acknowledgement in the thread... and the awesome red-outs! It's amazing how easy that was, and how quick it was for you to put them on!

The instructions and photos turned out great. Great job! (My car looks grey in the pics... weird)

Is anyone interested in buying a BowFlex PowerPro from me??? Just trying to test the waters since it would have to be a local sell b/c shipping would be terrible. Great chance at getting on at half price

I got on differed adjucitaion for that ticket on westhimer (3 months good behavior) BUT I got another ticket like less than a month later... so I may have a ****storm to deal with....

I went to the track on friday with a crew I know of, (my first time... and I have an auto) My best time was 15.9... my worst time was 16.2...
I was a little nervous at first, but I got the hang of it, but funny thing, my times got worse as the night went on, not better like you would think.... I also need new front tires, so I am sure that was a factor.

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

you shoulda stripped the car! did you remove the drivers side headlight?

are your tires getting bald in the front? if so, that means its better for the track.... more grip.

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

And you have to lower your tire pressure as well. :)

Don't worry about it Andy, times will get better. Just need some more practice at the track. How much was it to run and which track was this?

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

Ya, I totally want to know what track, and how much did it cost? I really want to take mine to a proper track and get an idea of what my car is capable of.

Has anyone in the Houston group done SCCA Solo 2 racing?

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

about tracks, i think houston raceway park has a 1/4 track. and i dont know if thats the same thing as baytown, cuz baytown has a 1/4 mile track as well.

david, i plan on doing some autox later this summer once my suspension mods are finished. they do autox's once a month so we will always have a chance to make it out there. they are usually sundays i believe. i also want to make it out there really soon so i can watch what goes on before i take on the track...... and if we plan a day to go, pray to God that its not raining. i heard the fwd cars had a reeeaaaally hard time on the last track they had.

Definately let me know, I actually prefer autox to 1/4 mile drag racing. I definately want to do that. Is it SCCA autox (aka Solo 2) or is it just a bunch of guys in an empty parking lot with some pylons and a stop-watch?

The biggest thing I don't like about Houston roads, they're all straight and flat (no twisties!). Is there anywhere around H-town with some good winding "driver's" roads?

Re: Official *HOUSTON, TX* Thread

hehe, i have yet to find many roads like that here. and if there are any, they have giant holes and cracks in them. i really like memorial parkway / allen parkway that runs through downtown. especially where it dips down and goes through a small tunnel. i always accelerate really hard and have all my windows down so i can hear the engine ROAR..... i am actually going running in memorial park tomorrow or wednesday. the roads there seem really cool, but i doubt people will appreciate the high speeds that i will want to travel.

Got my Wrist Slapped by HUB Hyundai

My Check Engine Light (CEL) came on again this past weekend, and I decided to get it checked out rather than just removing the negative battery terminal to reset the computer. I had a feeling they were going to be dicks. They checked it out, gave me the codes (P0171 and P0174) and said (and I quote), "Well, your intake is a problem so I'm not sure what to tell you. Normally a factory tech won't touch a car that's been modified. I worked at a GM dealership where even if a truck came in with a brush guard on the front we wouldn't touch it unless they took the brush guard off. My son likes to modify cars too, but he modifies an 88 civic that isn't under warranty any more."

So, basically, he just reset the code and sent me on my way, but he definately slapped my wrist and said "if you come in again for this CEL I'll have to charge you a $45 diagnositic fee."
