has anyone tried painting the emblems (Hs and Tiburon) without removing them? My idea is to use painters tape on the outside of the emblems and then use grease on the inside crannies. I don't see why it wouldnt work? the grease would easily be wiped off afterwards. Unless theres a way to get the glue that the factor uses? what ever the factor uses, it acts like a cushion behind the emblem.

i think it would be harder to tape everything off then to just take it off paint it and then put it back on
Use dental flush works awesome, then remove the glue with rubbing alcohol, glue them back with 3M emblems glue and presto.

So I took them off and painted them yesturday. I just got done putting them back on. What a pain in the *** it was to get them back on. I bought that 3m double sided automotive tape. Cutting that tap into the strips to get it fitted onto the emblem(s) was a pain. Anyways, in the end it looks great. I'll post pics later. Thanks for everyone who helped me out with my questions.
Good choice my friend. Nothing like getting paint on the car for a little thing such as taking the emblems off and putting them back on...
I have a jeep compass I removed the letter emblems painted black used goo gone to remove old adhesive and used a thin thin layer of rtv ultra black(all I had at the time) and it worked great and looks better than doing it without removing.... the rtv held a lot stronger than the adhesive that was already on it
