Ok. So my passenger, tried getting out of the car, and she jammed the lock somehow. The lock is stuck in the locked position and is totally jammed. The door wont even open from the outside because the key wont even turn in the hole. Also, the driver side lock only stays unlocked for like 2 seconds because if one lock is locked, both of them have to be locked I guess. So basically I cant open my passenger side door and I kinda wanna know how to fix it if I can. thanks

that's the problem, I cant open the door to take off the panel. I was just looking at it, I took off a few covers and I think that the door handle cable is snapped somewhere. So now the question is, how can I open my door without that cable? the door wont open from outside either it just lets me pull the handle and nothing happens

take the fuse out mate..........no power manual lock.....
Leave it out a bit and put it back in.see if it works....if it doesnt take fuse back out.
then-take off the pull on the door and remove screw at top that holds handle surround in place.do the one in middle and remove handle surround.A few people in uk have managed to manipulate the lock wire off and release it.

try it you have nothing to lose

im pretty sure it probably is although we have found cases of just jamming in the uk
I did this guide on the uk forum a while ago, short and sweet.see if any of it applies
(p.s prices-quids refer to uk pounds obviously not dollars)

HOW DO I KNOW I HAVE AN ACTUATOR FAULT?

actuator faults are common on the coupe. Some people can go the life of the car without changing one,but the majority of us will find ourselves doing one at least once in the cars lifetime.

things to look for include-

*mysterious groaning sounds from doors
*doors that wont lock/unlock
*sluggish door locking action
*door locks that flick on and off
*door may lock, but not unlock or vice versa

THE USUAL SEQUENCE

a mysterious groaning noise after you lock the door
described by the dealer as a "death rattle".This is a clue its going to die.......but this doesnt always happen

your doors dont lock
you lock the door.......but the passenger side doesnt lock....or unlock. This is usually the first stage for most.they can last like this for several months
also they could start to flick on and off. These will not last as long.or you may notice one lock takes longer to flick-its dying
at this point you could try disconnecting the battery.may work

now if your cars not been stolen by now for unlocked doors they may seize.......solid
This is a dangerous situation as you will have to cut the interior panel off to get to the actuator-ruining it in the process.it should be replaced before this-watch the clues!
have to take off the door handle surround in this case and try to manipulate the lock but ALWAYS take out the fuse and try putting it back in after a bit......and if that doesnt work take the fuse out and try a bit of manipulation

HOW DO I FIX IT?

dealer will want at least an hour labour and about 50 quid for unit.so at least 100-130 quid.small garages may charge less.
better to do it yourself.easy to do

you can buy the units from ebay for about 20-35 quid posted from korea
expect to wait at least 10 days for delivery
trusted ebay sellers include(for gen3 up to SIII)
mirine
bestparts65
woowon11

for gen1 and 2
mirine
bestparts65
gen 1 and 2 tend to be about 5 quid dearer than the equivalent gen3 one

check age against yours.remember koreans state(for gen3 up) 03 on.These also cover 02 gen3 types up

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH SIDE?

They are sided.
RH and LHD.please remember koreans are opposite way round as they are LHD.
If the passenger side stops working all well and good you know its that side.
However the drivers side one is the most common to pack in

ANY QUESTIONS?-ASK ME!

Yeah, you see with the actuator failing though, you should still be able to manipulate the lock mechanism with the FOB and/or unlock it manually. When my passenger side actuator failed, when I'd hit unlock on my FOB my drivers side door would unlock for a second & then quickly relock itself. Both sides work in unison & if one is messed up, it can cause the other side to act strange also.

In this case though it doesn't sound like it was the lock actuator. You may have broken this cable & it's jamming something inside

I had my drivers side break on me. It connects the manual inside lock to the locking mechanism. When mine broke, I was unable to unlock the door with the inside handle.

Anywho, good luck getting the door open m8! If I have any other ideas i'll make sure to post em up for ya

PS: As far as the fuse, the fuse box under your dash should have the Power Locks Fuse

oh yes it sounds like an actuator fault.
In the uk central locking is controlled by ther big yellow fuse in the under dash fuses-the one that does the radio etc.Check as above that you lot dont have a seperate fuse makes it simpler. With the yellow one you have to squeeze it both sides to release but i know some things in the states are wired differently.early tibs here had central locking on the wiper fuse
hope that helps a bit

If an actuator went bad, you should still be able to unlock the door manually with the key. So.............if u can't open the door from the inside or outside, then the mechanism is jammed. If you can lower the window, maybe you can look down at the lock area and maybe get a screwdriver in there and poke around....

Ok, so heres some progress.. I tried the fuse thing, I tried it in manual mode, The lock was still very hard to move but I managed to get it to the unlocked position and it stayed there. Then I tried opening the door via the inside handle, and nothing happened. It just pulled out completely with no response. So now my thoughts are that 1. My actuator is pretty gone. and 2. the cable is snapped for my door handle.

What do you guys think?

I know you can't open the door, in the referenced link I posted in this shows steps with the door panel off, but
If you can take the inside door handle apart and and pull the door grip handle and door pull handle cup
that is behind the pull latch out to expose the locking cables you might be able to get a hold of the cables and pull them and get the door open. then you can replace the actuators, and figure out what course of action to do from that point. Here is a link to the door lock: http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123340 and you can reference to the pictures in that thread that hold the cable to the latch. Once you get the latch tab loose just have to grab the metal cable piece upward to get it out of the hole the little 90 degree little bent piece out of the latch. I think if you can get the handle latch and the door locking cable loose you can open the door by pulling these cables. Hoping this helps you.
