Pressure plate and TOB help

Well, I'm having my VHR clutch/flywheel installed soon and decided to remove the TOB from the pressure plate (long story) with the help of a video recently posted. During my attempts I somehow managed to break the metal housing that holds the TOB in place. A good 90 degrees of the circle is gone. Pics below. Is this a universal Tiburon flywheel part to where I could get away with taking the inner flywheel area off my stocker and put it on the VHR pressure plate. It is thin metal and seems to be simply crimped into place

Since we're already at it. Does the TOB look okay? The inner teeth seem to be worn and the bottom of the assembly is not perfectly centered.

Sooooooo PLEASE HELP!

Uuuuuhhhh, not sure I see where you are going with that one. Are you saying the part broken is part of the TOB assembly? I know the red marked parts below are, but it the green marked part also part of the TOB or part of the pressure plate?

Okay, well from what I have found, the part I broke seems to be part of the pressure plate. Can the stock pressure plate be reused with a VHR clutch and flywheel? I always hear about the clutch, flywheel, and TOB as being wear and tear parts, but not the pressure plate.

*EDIT*

Okay, I found a pic of the pressure plate w/o the TOB installed. The part circled is what is broken. Is this part exactly the same on the stock pressure plate and can it be transferred the the VHR pressure plate?

I agree with this gentleman. Just seems legit to me, that you'd replace the whole deal when replacing your clutch. Similar in feeling to me at least, of using a quarter of old oil with the new oil. I just wouldn't feel right doing that. I say replace it all. :p

When I did my transmission swap, I bent this piece up a bit and re-used it with my old (same) clutch and pressure plate, etc, with a new TOB and it has caused me no issues. It doesn't look "broken" to me, just bent. Maybe I can't see what you're talking about it being broken.

you need to remove the TOB from that pressure plate and snap a few pics.... noone can even really see what you're talking about....

so is this VHR kit new? (it seems a little dirty and rusty and such) why did u snap the TOB onto the pressure plate?

as others have mentioned, that clutch set is a kit, and needs all of the parts to work together. you cant reuse the stock pressure plate.

i finally see what you mean, yes the green part is part of the TOB, and the part you bent is just metal, i would pull off the TOB and try to straighten it out.

Now I am confused. Was the TOB inserted into the new pressure plate before it was assembled? And is the TOB now trying to be removed and something got bent in the process? I thought maybe he wanted to use the old TOB or something, then the remark about using the old pressure plate. I hope you get it figured out.

Okay, made a little progress and got the TOB out to reveal the broken pieces. It is not part of the TOB but part of the pressure plate. I was able to remove it so now there's a new question. What is this part called and where can I find one?

That piece is not supposed to come off...

Guess that means I can't order it . Crap. It appears to be the same specs as stock, so I may see what condition my stocker is in and swap it over. Aside from that, I have since reinstalled it and the black retainer clips hold it in place just as snug as before.

I would just get a new one from Rock Auto or something man. Not too expensive.

New what? Pressure plate assembly? Are all pressure plates for the V6 Tib designed the same?

You could just send me that amazing twin disc setup instead. :3_wink:

I don't know, that looks pretty fooked up. It looks like the TOB is broken in several places, and what is all that rust from? Is this the old pressure plate and TOB? Are you trying to reuse any of those parts?
That part that is broken isn't the TOB, but the piece that it snaps into is. My mechanic has confirmed that the TOB is okay, but I have ordered a new one anyway. The clutch was purchased several years ago from a respectable member who put very little miles on it. The rust is merely surface rust due to being stored in my humid garage. I would like to reuse the pressure plate as I'm under the impression that the pressure plate from the VHR kit has stronger diaphragm springs than that of the stock unit. If this is not the case, I will buy a new stock pressure plate and use this one for extreme frisbee golf. lol
