i was wondering, i have 2 6x9 infinities from my first car and they are not being used and i know they sound sick, so iwant to replace the rear stock speakers in my 2004 tiburon gt with them, what do i need to do to get those suckers in there. i assume im going to have to cut a bigger hole. i have yet to see behind the panel in the back so im not sure what i'm workin with quite yet. just wondering if it wouldnt be too much of a hassle thanks:3_winkthu

any 6x9's will fit, I just did it. You'll need to rewire them but thats it.

To make your life simple, remove the rear seats entirely, remove the seatbelt clamps on the floor for both the driver / passenger (front) and then take off the side panel. Afterwards, you'll see the screws for the 6x9 speakers, loosen them up then pull out. Cut the factory harness clamp off the 6x9 and rewire it to your new speakers, it'll make life a heck of a lot easier. Also use the same housing, the factory speakers had a bit of glue holding it on the frame. It's all easy..trust me.

With all due respect, Nocturn, not all 6 x 9s will fit. The Tibby has 0.65" clearance between speaker and panel, and some speakers (Infinity Reference are one) may not fit behind that panel unless you do some modification (the tweeter protrudes too far outward). If the person installing is not experienced at overcoming this issue, things can get hairy...

Polk db690s, JBL GTOs and Alpine Type-Rs will fit no prob...

Good call. The Kappas have no prob with tweeter protrusion, and the cutout is so close to fitting that you might as well say they do. Our data here is precise to the thousandth of an inch, but we all know that factory tolerances vary.

If those are Kappas, outxofxcontrol, I would go for it... just not with the Reference series.

go f-in figure, they are reference 6x9 3-ways, and i go rid of that plastic piece that held the wires onto the stocks, and just attached the ends to the new ones. it doesnt sound nearly like the stocks tho, im actually disappointed, i get more bass and volume out of the stocks when its at the same volume. i havent checked to see if the panel gets back on there

BTW, outxofxcontrol:

Your Tib is at least close to mine:

2004 GT, 6-Speed, high spoiler, full leather, Tidal Blue, 30k miles.

yea we got the same tib dude, cept mine didnt come with the friggin woofer. i was pissed cuz i told the guy, just give me one from another tib you're selling, and he said he couldnt do anything about it, so i just took the car and that was it. pushed me right over i think. so you got any mods done yet?

heres what i got for audio. sony xplod HU, stock fronts and tweeters, Infinity reference 6x9 3-way rears, and 2 12" Bazooka BA series in a dual fully sealed box.

yes amazingly the infinitys fit with no problem with the tweeters touching anything, i dunno what you guys are talking about.

I have a JVC KD-HDR1 head unit. stock speakers all the way around, and a pair of Fosgate Punch XLC's in a dual fully sealed box. I pulled the stock sub.

Everything sounds awesome. Love it.

First mods will be minimal... Got a stubbie antenna coming, tint job, rebadging, new gas panel (current one is pretty chipped up). I want to do the clear corner mods, but have a fear of screwing something up and being stuck without lights. We'll see.

i have the stock speakers on mine w the kenwood hu and i just put in an amp and 12" pioneer premier 3000 watts max woofer n it sounds amazing...one thing i did tho was add adhesive tape to the rear plate so it wont rattle... im thinkin bout keepin the stock speakers but if i do decide to change em..ughh idk, ima put in a 4chanel amp to the speakers like i had in my previous car...if dey blow ill just put in stronger speakers...

hey one thing i did to make the car sound louder was on the hu change the eq. i put the bass all da way down on da speakers, and mid to +4 and the treble to the highest setting...since i have a pioneer premier 3000 watts max giving me bass i decided to go w these settings, n i put the sub to +7 and its loud enuff...and dats all on the kenwood stock system for the tiburon 06 se.
another thing im plannin to do is add a 4ch amp to the factory speakers like i had in my previous car n it sounded amazing...til the speakers give out imma change em... my car has no rattle, i added adhesive tape to the rear plate n it sounds amazing...
idk just my .02 cents
