hey guys quick question, I have an 04' GT model but I noticed that the SE models had premium red hyundai brake calipers on the front wheels. I really wanted to upgrade (and I found them online) but I am not sure if I would also be required to upgrade the disk rotors too?

The reason I ask, is because I have a funny feeling that they are slightly bigger? I upgraded to cross drilled/slotted rotors in the past - and when I purchased them it gave me an option to buy the 5-Speed/Automatic Set OR the 6-Speed Manual Set (which I figured was for the SE models..

I don't want to replace my rotors & pads again.. I'm not even sure if there is any difference at all, so I hope someone here has some knowledge to shed upon this subject before I just buy these brake calipers.

Thanks

Not for the OP's MY.
From 04-06 the 6spd tibs that came with the red "lightweight aluminum" calipers still used the same size rotor. I just did a brake job on my 05 with the red aluminum Hyundai calipers and the rotors are the same as the non SE equipped ones. The 6spd red calipers are bigger though and you need the correct/larger pads for these. The regular ones wont work.
FYI In 07-08 these calipers were used but also used larger brackets for the larger drilled OEM rotors.
I don't think any tibs in North America came with the xg350 brakes.

I got those big calipers off the junk yard, its off XG350, came with brake pads. I paid around 75 bucks for it. Cleaned it, painted it green with G2 epoxy paint, and slapped them on stock 11 inch tiburon brake disks, Works great even with wrong brake disks, only thing is that brake pad does not land on brake disk on very edge on it, so lets say 20% of my brake pad is not functional.

Anyways it works better than stock, but u should get correct size brake disks off XG350 as well, dont do what I did lol. Im on a budget right now.

I have an 07 SE and yes the front brakes are bigger and are cross-drilled. They are clearly from the XG350. So you should get the XG350 disks so the pads will seat on the entire disk. Your current setup not only reduces your stopping power, it may cause uneven wear on the pads.

I can't speak about the 04-06 disks, but I can tell you that the front disks on my 07 SE are definitely larger than the disks in your picture. I will post a pic tomorrow. But if the OP is getting 04-06 calipers, they may work fine with his disks.
