First off I do not want to offend anyone with this, it is just a question. Right now i own a 2007 lx four banger, and im looking at the 2008 tib gt or se, or a 2008 civic si coupe. The civic pumps out nearly a hundred horses a liter, but at 2 liter thats 197 hp with four cylinders. My question is this, how does a bad a** car like the tiburon gt and se have 6 cylinders and only pump out 170 or 180 hp. I know the tib has mass potential, but that is frickin rediculous. You would think with a 2.7 liter v6 would at least be putting out 200 stock. I love tibs, but i am not turned on by 172 hp. Tel me why?

HAHA , if you call only being able to push the stock block to the 300 neighborhood(i know there are exceptions to this number) and not know how long itll take to blow on you mass potential then what do other engines have? wow thats funny to say.......im not doggin you man, that was just funny

thats because they didnt use tiburons in the fast and the furious.....itd be swapped if they used tibs instead of hondas

Mitsubishi is not worried about Hyundai as far as performance goes. The EVO gets put up against Lambos...come on, Hyundai? Honda and Toyota are Hyundai's main competetitors. Toyota's probably going to be fairing the worst, but until Hyundai gets a hybrid then Toyota still has nothing to worry about. You have to remember that there are loyal customers and it might take a real break through from Hyundai or a generation change for them to displace either one of those Japanese giants.
The Genesis looks like it's targeting BMW and Ford, btw. They probably wanted to take on Nissan but the new Z is going to be what, 400hp?

I don't think he is talking about performance, but out right sales. Mitsubishi is a sinking ship with no one looking twice at any of their other cars to keep them afloat. Sports cars aren't the staple of larger automakers.

but you've got to think....if hyundai put as much time and effort into making an engine with more HP that had a better exhast flow, better intake design and a better head design....it wouldnt cost under 20K and wouldnt have 172HP......itd be closer to 30K and have around 260hp......it all goes back to the research and development

Calling honda junk compared to hyundai is like the pot calling the kettle black. Hyundai is still growing and its reputation is getting better. When honda first came to be, they faced the same problems as hyundai did. Its only a matter of time now for hyundai.
Back to the tib vs. si comparo, each car has its pros and cons. When the si comes alive, it is like a different car. And mods only help them out. I've heard of i/h/e+tune on an si breaking into the 13s. How many tibs do we see doing that? Interior is a hate it or love it scenario. I enjoy the way the interior is on these cars. The shifts are excellent too. It is like night and day compared to the tiburon's 6-speed. Tib has its pros as well. The v6 has its own unique sound to it, plus you have more torque in the lower rpms. Unfortunately, my tib has drawbacks, such as fading headlights, clearcoat issues in some areas, and fading on interior pieces. If I had to do it all over again, I would have went with the new SI or an RSX.

Well I bought the tib and didn't do any research and I assumed that it had 800whp stock and when I found out it was only 170hp I called a lawyer and now I am suing Hyundai! D@MN POS HYUNDAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :3_frown: :barfonyou: :baby: :m_violin:

You must forget that when I say Honda I mean Honda...if I wanted to say Acura I think I would have said it. Not to mention Acura has expensive luxury anyway.
And why wouldn't Honda be worried? My mother has been lookin for a nice car because her Exploder is old, so I showed her pictures of the Genesis Sedan and she loves it. She was looking at Accord's, but she liked Malibu better until I showed her Hyundai's latest. I pretty much made a sale for Hyundai so I should get a Genesis coupe for free....:3_winkthu

I got you beat Photo... I was driving around and all of a sudden the car just stopped... I mean, I had driven like 250 miles, WTF!!! And now there is some little light on that looks like a gas pump Is there something wrong with the gas I put in? Am I not supposed to use diesel, cause I know thos big trucks use it and they are super duper powerful? I hope its covered under warranty..

did anybody else that drove an SI notice the horrible lag on the accelerator? i couldn't stand it. their "no cables" setup sucks. my buddy drives an 07 and is always complaining about it as well. the si and tib are both quick cars. one thing the si has over the tib is people room in the back seat.. not that either was made for people back there but tall people fit much better in the si backseat.. just my thoughts
