While you are at it could you give us future references on how to remove the trims? like weather strippings, etc.?
possible diy? I think i figured out how to remove the ones above the doors. (held on by screws on the inside right?) I would like to know the rear quarter glass trim and the 2 plastic strip across the roof.

pics too please?

Weather stripping was pretty easy. For the 2 strips on the roof. You may have to remove the window molding too if you want to make it easier but its not required. Just slowly pry up one end. There are 4 "hook" Like things hold it in so be careful to not tear those areas. There is some glue so also be weary of that. And yes you are right about the screws. The quarter glass trim you have to take out the inside covers (just above your speaker panel) We removed everything from the inside minus the seats so it was pretty easy to get those out. Look for screws and tabs is all thats holding that in. The outside are also held in my screws I think (dont quote me on that) Or you may just have to pull those as they are just kind of slide and wedged in there. Ill get close up pictures and better DIYS when we put it back together. But the trim is all really easy. Pull if it doesnt pull up there are screws.

The car was primed yesterday (as we all know) Wet sanded today. I am honestly a little sore I cant lie (4 hours of wet sanding sucks!) I am thinking about buying some new NIA eyelines and taking off my old ones (need some opinions) to make it look more aggressive! More wet sanding to do tomorrow! Monday we will probably re prime some spots (sanded through a little oops! lol) Tuesday we might shoot the base coat (sexy black of course 3 to 5 coats depending on how many I think is good) and then the clear!!!! The clear alone costed 200 dollars (I paid 350 for primer paint activator reducer and clear with the school discount of course with out it the clear would have cost around 500 dollars) The clear coat is top of the line DuPont offers! Its the ultra high gloss mirror finish its soooooo sexy (plus a 3 year warranty on the look I cant complain) I will post pictures tomorrow of the progress!!! I am so excited this is my Christmas present to myself :)

Personally, I use TranStar clear. I've had it recommended by a few different shops, as its a little softer than some other clears so its more resistant to chips. Its usually around 100-150 with the reducer needed for it. But I wish ya luck man, have fun with it! Are you going to be spraying it, or is going to be sprayed by the professor?

I will be spraying the car along with probably a couple others in the class. Yeah the clear we bought is actually really soft as well and is good with chips so I am happy :)

Good stuff man. I know I was told to avoid omni and a few others. PPG and Transtar were recommended, but I cant remember about Dupont. In the future, if you do want to branch out though, it'll at least save some money if you do anyone elses! You can make a little extra coin that way.

Yeah we use PPG and DuPont mainly. Haven't heard to much for Transtar. May have to look at that.

UPDATE: 12/3/2010
Car is fully wet sanded!! Now I have to suffer the weekend without working on my baby. (sad day) Next week we should be shooting some base and maybe if we are lucky some clear!! Pictures will be up monday ill take them when I first get into class so you can see it as it sits right now. It looks a million times better. And then at the end of the day depending on what we do I will snap some more. And then when we shoot base I will have pictures and stuff up daily!! so keep an eye out for this thread. Should get pretty hot soon.

Honestly with a couple days of work you could do all the body work yourself (if you have some experience with body work and the tools) 50 dents and 2 rusts spots took us just under 2 weeks to do. The dents all being done by me took me 3 days to do (Pulled, Filled, Sanded (80/180/320)) The rust however took about 9 days to get the panels cut, welded, filled, shaped to match the body lines and prepped for paint. Now is the very challenging part. Wet sanding and painting. This is where you will see EVERY flaw so this is the most crucial part for us right now in getting this done. Plus with it being a black car it has to be perfect. Ill post some pics but I wet sanded every part of the car with 400 grit with a paint stirring stick to make sure it would be as perfect as possible. It sucked!!
