Well if you don't drive it hard or beat the **** out of it being careless, ignoring service dates and etc, you should be fine, but I don't know of ANYONE keeping a Hyundai that long. Although I got the same warrenty

 

It will last as long as you want it to. Meaning, if you take care of it, it will last.

My 1999 Tiburon is still purring along with 70k on the clock. No major repair issues to date.

Get your oil changed regularly, follow the maint. sched in your owners manual, wash it regularly including the engine bay...

 

There is a coworker on mine who had a Hyundia excel form 89' i think, he had well over 180.000 miles on that car. And it still ran...then he goes and trades it in for a 05' elentra...

Bought my wife a 2004 Sonata (currently 45,000 miles w/ no problems). Traded my Elantra on my Tib (2004 SE) that now has 35,000 troublefree miles. Just maintain it, don't beat it and it WILL last...

I dont plan on beating it, but I do plan on driving it a lot of highway miles in 6th gear at around 2500-3500 rpm's

Changing oil every 3k miles that should keep it alive for a while *hope* assuming other parts dont drop on it.

warranty should be 10 year 120k miles... i mean who drives their car 10k miles a year?!

I think with any car as long as you do regular maintenance and take care of it and don't beat on it like the average american driver (most of us on the board are car enthusiasts so we have a much much better sense of maintenance) . You'll take it as long as you want - or until the expensive parts wear out. Modifications will shorten the life some - depending on what you do.

My example would be my best buddy's 97 Ford Escort with 137000 miles - runs strong and still blows cold A/C

 

Hey I got my 03 tibby in Sept 02 and from then to now I have put close to 76000 miles on my car commuting to work and school before I wrecked it yesterday.... :3_sadley: That averages to 25,333 miles a year. Anyway, I have done all scheduled maint. all the 15k, 30k, etc...and it ran perfectly...even at times when I drove it hard....it still had alot more miles to go, it would have lasted for several more years until I would have traded it in for another. The car will last if you take care of it as your own family...

 

Most any brand of car or truck will last you well over 150,000 miles+ as long as you take care of it.
Since you do a whole bunch of driving get your oil changes every 3k miles, change coolant & tranny fluids every 60k or so. And depending on your financial situation you may want to go ahead and purchase new brake pads, rotors, and maybe a clutch, since they're gonna need to be replaced for you much sooner than most of us.

 

I had 176,000 miles on my ford contour before it finally died. The tiburon is put together at least as well as that car was. Take care of it and it'll last as long as you want it to. You'll probably get sick of it and want another car before it has the chance to die.

 

The dealership I have my car serviced at has a small fleet of 4-5 Sonata's and Excel's for hauling parts between dealerships and I haven't seen one with under 400,000 km (250,000 miles).

As mentioned, it comes down to how you treat the car, it will last. The Honda's out there with similar km's get those km's not for pounding the crap out of the car, but rather regular service and highway km's.

73k miles on my 03 tib....never been to dealer....tons of mods, including Alpine S/C....runs like the day i bought it.

I do 90 miles a day commute total.

 

Your engine and transmission should last for a long time, but every other part should break a couple times. Watch out for the lock actuators, interior bulbs dying.

Also, hopefully you won't develop a harsh pull to the right, but your interior will rattle unmercifully after 50k miles.

Hey I need some help! I just bought an 06 tiburon gs not gt with 230k miles on it, it has a new timing belt, new clutch, short throw, new breaks and callipers, good wiring, new head gasket, new injectors, new calipers and breaks, new alternator, new spark plugs and a new starter, also a custom exhaust, intake and tint all around. Only For 3K, so do you think it would last me a while I don’t want start out with a 230k tiburon but it drives and is in the condition of a new car? Do you think it’s worth the 3K and could it get me to 300k miles if I do the regular oil and keep up on other regular matinence and should I put money into it for mods?

but if everything you mentioned new is really new, and installed properly. I wouldn't see a reason why it won't last another 100K if you don't abuse it.

 

Just in case anyone looks at this thread now that I’ve seen it brought back up, I bought my 08 V6 a year ago with 187000km for 3k, I’m now at 210000 and have not had a single issue, just done the regular maintenance and upkeep

 

Were it me I wouldn't start modifying it. HP gains stress old trannies and clutches, electrical mods can cause all sorts of headaches. A high mileage car is best off box stock so if it needs some troubleshooting it's a known quantity to the mechanic.
I have one with 132,000 (engine has about 62,000) and the thing drives tight and smooth as a new car. With care you could easily reach 300, unless you start drag racing the poor old girl. Just my opinion.

 

purchased 12/12/2002 and still running...about 150k miles on her....

my wifes 2007 has about 180k on it and does well. She has a wheel speed sensor that glitches, but the loves her car.

 

We bought my wife's 2004 GT about 7 years ago.....has over 200K miles on it now, was 170K miles when bought....
Basic maintenance, tires, brakes, struts, couple brake calipers, oil changes, etc.....minor fixes along the way...
Doing routine stuff and washing.....should last....
