so ive been researching for the last few months on lowing my car and what products are available for the tib to do sooo i came across these on ebay. they were so cheap i couldnt help wonder how reliable they were and if they were really worth buying at all. so i did some googling and found multiple people on honda forums, maxima forums, and bimmer forums. each person who owned these said they loved them and have been great. one guy actually said hes previously owned the kyb's and said these are even better. thought id share this just in case anyone is interested. and if anyone on here owns them please give some feedback! heres the link... http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAGG-SHS-4...sories&fits=Make:Hyundai|Model:Tiburon&vxp=mtr&hash=item1c1dfeaf40#ht_500wt_951

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

im going to buy springs and these struts very soon. by the end of the month hopefully. i mean for this price and the good reviews ive read whats the worst that can happen. i think they might just be selling them this cheap to get the word out and then if they become popular they will raise the price so im going to snag them while there still this cheap

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

who cares if its ebay. why are people so against it. ive bought a ton of items on ebay not just for my car and never once had a single problem. and if you read the reviews from the seller there all excellent. you can buy things on ebay. just know what your buying and who the seller is.

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

I don't have a problem with purchasing things from Ebay.
I'm saying that the quality of Ebay products, especially for cars. It's terrible. Mind you, I'm not referring to name brand sellers.
that i agree with. if i purchase something on ebay its usually if not always bought from a brand name seller or at least a top rated seller.

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

People are against ebay because the people that get burned don't take the time to do their research. Period. I have bought many things over ebay and have yet to get burned, because I go out of my way to look between the lines and "read the fine print" so to speak.
absolutely agree

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

They are comparable to KYB Gr-2. Looks like generic picture, I bet they look the same as OEM struts.
theres a guy on a mazda forum who bought them and showed them installed and also in the box and just out of the box. they dont look too much like oem but pretty similar. you cant definitely tell they are different though. im going to say right now that im getting these this month.if they are as good as the reviews say then hopefully ive helped some future tib owners out who are looking to lower without breaking the bank.

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

The issue about struts is not who makes them, but how they are made and with what materials. We all know what the better brand struts are and who makes them. This has come from years of testing and use of the struts, plus the reviews. What actually does the strut do and how long is it going to last, that is the question. So it is going to be just a matter of buying them, checking them out visually, installing them and finally finding out how they handle what you put them through. Will they actually dampen correctly, how many different types of tests will you put them through, and last, and most importantly, how long will they last?
i hear you on that. it is skeptical because none of us have ever heard of someone with a tibby who has owned these. because mine is my dd my main concern with any mod i buy is if its worth the money and most importantly will they last. so i guess when i get them ill have to beat the crap put of them and let everyone know how they are and then of course let everyone know about the reliability after owning them for a while. i probably wouldnt think about buying them if i hadnt read those other reviews.

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

i thought kyb's were just oem replacements as well?

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

They are. The point is that we know that they are the best choice for replacing OEM struts and they perform better then the OEM struts, can handle lowering springs, and I believe that they may be less expensive than the OEM struts. Just pointing out that we already know this information compared to the inexpensive unknown struts that you found on eBay.
i can understand that. i appreciate the insight.

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

Have you purchased them yet?
naa if i do it wont be for a few weeks. ive recently found these which ive been looking for forever and they are still being made. http://www.importshark.com/store/details.php?image_id=381 but they are a little more costly. however eibach is one of the most reputable brands out there as far as suspension products go. so now im debating whether i should spend the extra money or not.

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

Why dont you guys do a little bit of research instead of jumping the gun on things?

Stagg are fairly new in the U.S very similar in performance to Tokico they are made in China with a very unique valve design and valving and with extra hardened piston rod for reliability they use top of the line NOK japanese oil seals, the warranty is also similar to KYB and tokico with a limited lifetime warranty...

Re: Stagg SHS Struts

the eibachs are not being made anymore. You wont be able to tell that they are different just by looking at them. It's all in the dampening.
if they are not being made then why are they listed on import shark? or is that something different?

Discussion starter · #39 ·
ill check that out then. I remember a while ago i saw them on another website but they were for the RD tib and just recently i saw them on import shark. I dont remember seeing them on there ever until about a month ago unless i just missed them. think theres a chance eibach os making them again? It says they are in stock but ill double check with them.

i bought them! ive also bought k sport lowering springs from wesellcarparts. cant wait to get these installed! the struts said they should get here within 2-6 days so ill show some pics when i get them. guess ill be the first to try these out. also on ebay there were 4 other people who bought them for the tib with positive reviews

there finally here! they look pretty good to me. hopefully ill be installing them along with my teins sometime next week.

I'll retract my previous comments, these actually look pretty legit!
Nice job!
haha thank you :3_pimatyo. maybe tibby members will have another option when it comes to after market socks/struts now. im just hoping they perform well too. how do you like your teins btw? i just got mine yesterday but obviously havent installed them yet. have any clearance issues? and hows the performance?

I like them to an extent.. They're great springs, no clearance issues, really aggressive drop, especially up front because of all the extra weight from the turbo. I'm hella low now haha.
My only issues with the TEIN's is how bouncy they are. I honestly wish I would have saved an extra couple hundred and grabbed some D2 coils.
eh really? dont really want a bouncy ride but ill see once i get them installed. i though the bounciness was mostly from the shocks themselves? or is it a combo of both the spring and shock?
