I have a 6 speed. If given the option to swap to a 5 speed, I would.

Does that answer your question?

From what I have been told by outside sources, the 5 speed is a lot stronger than the 6 speed.

Yes. Isn't the 6-Speed only for the V6's anyways? Not sure what advantages it would have on a 2.0L. The only advantage I see with the 6-speed is a higher topspeed (barley) and better gas millage depending how you drive (comparing the 5-Speed V6's).

The useless 1st and 2nd gears are a bit annoying, but it is fun to say you have a 6-Speed haha

IMO, the 5 speed is a more balanced transmission compared to the 6 and even the auto. I find the 6 having very short gears, despite that sixth is very helpful for highway cruising. I've driven a 6 enough to know about it. On the highway, I find myself having enough passing power in fifth without the need to drop back down to fourth.

I can't believe nobody picked up on this, but why the hell would the rear end be different in a front wheel drive car ?!?!?!?!

for styles36 u can put any shifter u want in ur car. i have a solid aluminum hurst pistlegrip out of a camaro. u just gotta fill in the 5/8 hole and drill it and tap it to wat our sticks r. it was like 3/8 i think, in short. u actually should drill the bolt first to help get it strait and u need a di. (sp?) like die but im sure its different. i was in votec and knew a few machinists so it was easy for me but just sayin.

In this forum all I see is the grass is always greener response first off is I have a five speed and the first and second gears are just as short as the six speed and once in fifth gear shes only going 60 at 3000 rpm granted I can get it up to bout 140 but by then im begging for another gear seeing as my rpm gauge is burried in the red
