DO NOT FLAME
People always get flammed for posting things about engine swaps on the tib but thats because they are being ridiculous. Iis it possible to remotely swap an evo engine, wrx engine, supra engine, you get the picture. They are not too expensive on ebay and I was wondering if anyone has tried or is planning on trying. If it was under 3k I would give it a go but I need to know if it is possible, or not. Please dont fame me and say "EVERYONE POSTS THINGS LIKE THIS" I know I want to see what people say to my specific question.:3_pimatyo

Possible Yes.. Costly. Umm hell yes (Not trying to sound rude or flame you)

But with those motors you will need new mounts, cut into the wiring harness and put ours in that wiring harness, rear end to make AWD if that was your plan with the Evo and STi motor's. If you have the spare funds and the proper equipment and know how on to make said mounts for motor, tranny and rear if you needed it. But hinestly is it worth it?? Depends if you can do it or not. But under 3 grand no sir not possible. Sorry.

The only swap that should be done is to a Hyundai MU. I DO NOT know why know one has tried this yet. The motor would literally drop in without any type of fitment issue as far as im concerned. Im sure you need a new ECU ad few various things but this would be BY FAR the easiest swap to do for a hyundai. Boom, now you have VVT, direct injection, and 194bhp vs the stock 173.

Thanks for the helpful comment. What is costly about the others though really? How much is getting motor-mounts and messing with a wiring harness?

Every engine design is different. Much fabrication would be needed. You could just spend that money to build the block and boost it.

really not worth it man... to many variables, i mean this is no regular honda where you can swap motors in a day or less and your biggest hurdle is motor mounts and harnesses.... you got way too many details.. especially if youre mentioning, supra's and evo motors (doubt a 2jz would fit in the engine bay.. nice thought tho) too much work, money and headache envolved... use that money to put a downpayment on a car you want

EDIT: i just read through the comments caconman424 knows what he's talking about....

This thread needs to be locked... he is no different from any other noob that comes in here claiming to do an engine swap before he even has 30 posts, and then claims to have a mechanic do it for him...

its not plug and play and will be more money than you are even imagining... like upwards of 8000-9000 probably as a wild guess...

the reason I know you won't do it is cause:

A: if you COULD do it yourself, you would know it is not worth it...

B: if you can NOT do it yourself, you would be loaded beyond all compare and would already be driving a much nicer car...

I didn't say I could do it. I brought up a point I thought was descent saying that the 2.8 could possibly fit because its a smaller engine with more HP. I see now that its not... No other "Noob" has said anything about size/detentions so I thought i would. I wouldn't have posted if people like you would have come one here. I can read all of the comments above and yours is honestly worthless. Not trying to flame you but your the last comment and in my opinion worthless comment. Everybody told me its not possible and now I know. 30 posts doesn't have anything to do with it...either way I would have said it if I have 12000 posts. Sorry about chewing you out just venting...

Unless you really just want to be unique and not be like everyone else by having a different engine in your Tiburon.. It's not worth the cost and all the crap anyway, Tiburons just are not that fast, they can get pretty quick eventually.. But at some point you just won't have any kind of reliability.. If you want to go faster etc. then just buy a different car that is faster stock.. That's all there is to it..

stay the hell away from audi motors.... they are insanely difficult to work on in their respective cars lol. you would never get the motor to work right.

if you do attempt this atleast stay in brand, it will cut out the majority of the headaches.

manual would be easier than auto..

if you want to do RWD then msg me and i can give you some insight into what will need to be done..

i hope you do it. and if you do post pics!

^^ THIS +1 I swear to god audi tries to make them gay-er every year lol Even just basic oil changes are retarded-ly more difficult than what they should be.

If you were to look into a true, viable option, look into the SOHC 2.4L WITH transmission from a 3rd gen eclipse. The bottom end has seen over 440ft/lbs of torque through a buddies car. You can swap heads with that of an Evo or DOHC Hyundai/Kia (certain models)...I have no idea on the spline count for the hub side of the axles...nor do I know how close it would be to sliding in. The mounts are in very similar locations, and the Evo stuff bolts on (intake manifold, turbo manifolds [minor modification needed...like putting in an extra flange to act as a spacer to clear the starter])...If you really wanted an option, look into this...or look into the full Evo long block with a 3rd gen transmission. You're choice, but unless you can weld, wire, and fabricate, its gonna rape you cost wise to swap just about any motor in. FYI. Or, you can bring it to me, and for a measly 3g's in labor, I'll do the swap for you...you pay for all parts separately :3_winkthu
