I got my car in Decmeber from a guy we know who owns his own body shop and he had some of his workers look at the trunk and they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't open. Anybody have any ideas as to why its not opening?

Sometimes the switch goes bad or jams up.

when you say wont open, do you mean when you pull the release lever it wont open. or you cant get it to open at all, like its jammed solid ?

wow, ive never heard of that before. all i can assume is that the lock inside the trunk is broken and holding it from being popped or opened. i really dont know what to say. if its still under warrenty take it in and make them fix it...if not, than im not sure

theres a thread on here somewhere where someone locked his keys into his trunk and we had to figure a crazy scheme to open it ... let me gander

this happens to me sometimes but after i pull the trunk lever a few times it opens

Yea somebody had a thread on this earlier. They climbed into the back and took off the box that is in the center of the hatch at the bottom and somehow clicked something into place.

okay this happened to me
i had subs facing the back trunk lock
and they vibrated the bolt from the lock off and under the locking lever
i had to take it to a lock smith

what happenes when you use the key?

I've seen when the hatch struts get weak its hard to open. you have to turn the key & lift at the same time....

have not come across one where it would not open @ all.

This gives me an idea for to really **** with people, weld the latches on their trunks shut., then put the interior pieces back over to hide them.

Crawl inside the trunk, pop off the square door on the trunk panel and screw with the latch. Someone posted a similar problem about a month back.

Is it hard to turn or anything? If not, it sounds like the actuator is out.

The actuator isn't out and still can't figure out whats wrong with it.

i finally figured out what was wrong with it. I had the same problem as 2003whitegt stated he had above. Thanks for the help.

So, did you have to take your car to a lock smith as well, or is this something a person can fix themselves? I'm guessing I have the same problem, as my hatch lock symptoms are exactly the same.
