My parents are helping me a lot with my car. And ya know what, I don't care what any of you think about it. My parents know how much I appreciate it, and since I graduated with a 4.4 in high school and have a 3.9 gpa in college, I'm not exactly sitting around on my ass mooching off of my parents.

I pay for all of my mods, and when I'm not in school, I make full payments on the car. So I lucked out and have parents who did well for themselves and were willing to help me buy a nice car while I am young, big deal. Just because my parents were willing to spend money on me IS IN NO WAY A PRECURSER TO JUDGE ME, or anyone else in that situation. Not everyone who is young and has a nice car is spoiled. I know very well the value of a dollar. I've been working since I was 14, managed my own money the entire time, and I never need to ask for money from my parents. But if they're going to be generous and offer it to me, I'm going to accept it with the utmost gratitude and appreciation.

was having a chuckle over the parental approval/purchase thing, but then remember seeing the yellow car at the dealership, turned to the wife, and said "can I can I can I puleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze"

Which is only slightly less pathetic than doing the same to mom and dad.

Look man my parents hepled me withmy first car and they had plenty of money to pay for the whole thing. But it is responsibility that you learn from it, for instance if a kid gets a 05 tiburon from MOMMY or DADDY then most of them really have no cares in the world about that car they figure mom and dad will buy them another one. But if you have to actually pay for some of it or all then you will probably take car of it better. SO DONT SAY your sick of it I was just stating someting about kids who have everything given to them , those are usually the one that wreck it after a couple of months and just say I will get another one. Parents now a day need to start teaching their kids responsibility, and how to take care of what they got.I am thankfullmy mom did not pay for the whole thing, plus that was like 6 years ago. To this day I think that helped me become the person I am. I make damn good money now and when i have kids they will have to earn everything and I will probably buy their first car but they will pay for insurance or with great grades from school other than that they will not get andy freebies from me!

AMAZING.. i bought mine myself.. its in my name 100% no co-signer..

and i wreckd mine 6 months after buyin it..

wasnt my fault mind you but..
not evryone wrecks cars that mommy and daddy get them.. some parents dont want to have to worry about thier kids driving around in an unreliable unsafe junk heap.. so they choose to get them a new car..

you people on this forum act like this is an expensive car

ITS A 20 THOUSAND DOLLAR CAR!!! we sit low ont he totum pole here guys.. sorry to say it.. i love my car.. and its a great car.. but its a cheap car. its a hyundai... hyundai doesnt have a good enough name built back up so they cant charge alot.. therefore people see it as an inexpensive car for thier kid.. and they know its a new car.. so its got a warranty.. and itll most likely be reliable

ya know.. my parents didnt buy me or any of my borthers or my sister a car.. and i respect my car alot.. but i think id care alot more about how i treted it if i didnt pay for it.. my outlook is.. i paid for it.. i can drive it how i like..

yea

Hey at least u are paying for the car, I got no qualms about people being handed a car. Hell my sister got one, but it wasnt new by any standards. I just got a problem with people being handed a brand new sports car. My parents were never married and I didnt try to play them against each other. My grades in school were sorry at best (definately not acadimicaly inclined). My father have two other kids to take care of and put thru collage (They got the brains ( I got the short end of the stick) (a really dumb stick). All my cars I have paid everything for. No help from mommy or daddy. ( But that kid in High school with me who got an NSX rolled it and daddy bought him another one sure did piss me off.

whether that title belongs to my mom or me, doesn't determine how i treat that car. i am still gonna wash it and wax it. i'm still gonna look both ways before pulling out in an intersection...you people act like if the parents buy the car then we're gonna throw blindfolds on and go driving. its just not the case. i'm sorry but it isnt. and in my case, tehre's not a damn thing i would have done or will do differently just cause that title isn't in my name. in my eyes, its MY car. i am the one who drives it. and i have a heavy load to bear if i screw up the car in some way. yes they got it for me but like i said earlier, we're NOT rich. if you wanted us to go out and buy another car right now, we couldn't. my dad desperatly needs a new truck but we can't afford to do it right now cause we're still makin payments on mom's car. we're not rich. just saved up for a long while and when the opportunity came, we got my car.

i'm with speck on this one. just cause its mommy and daddy..doesn't mean we're GOING to wreck it. kill the stereotype. there ARE stupid kids out there. I, am not one of those.

and to clear up, i don't think a tib is a good car for a 16 year old new driver. which is why i didn't get mine then. i had that saturn ****. but it was a good learner. then i got the tib a couple weeks shy of my 18th birthday. it was worth the wait and made the car mean even MORE than it would have if i had gotten it the second i asked for it.

ditto.

Hell, Im probably more careful with my car because my parents are paying for it because I know if I did something stupid and wrecked it, they'd kill me

I bought my own 05 SE and it feels great. Already put over 1000 miles on it and am trying to find an impact gun with some balls to install a lightweight pulley on. This is all financed by me, working 40 hours per week (at slave wage) and going to school 35 hours per week.

When I was driving my parents' 03 Sonata, I thought I appreciated my car. Then I bought the tib on my own, and it's an entirely new feeling. If someone LOOKS at my car the wrong way, my fist clenches.

exactly.. im less careful with mine.. cause i know if i **** up.. thats on me..and me alone.. financialy and evrything

and no a v6 tib isnt a good car for a 16 yr old.. they may be on the slow side.. but for an inexperianced driver.. they do have some balls.. and will get you introuble

the only thing i was saying is.. most parents have no problems getting them for thier kids.. cause its and a 30 thousand dollar car

i learnd how to drive in my dads truck.. so it was no big deal for me when i got my tib as my first car..... of course. i was 19 almost 20 when i got it

lol bro.. i love mine too but im not gonna get in a fight over it

its just a car man

...i'm just as protective about my car....you DON"T mess with my car. at all. if you want to make a perminant enemy with me...**** up my car.

i think that just has to do with the fac that it was your parents sonata....a sonata...nuff said.

when i drove my mom's oldsmobile i didn't care about it as much...cause it wasn't mine. the tib is mine...

The Sonata was awesome... very gorgeous interior. I was impressed with the quality of the car as a whole, and so were my passengers.

Now with the Tiburon, people feel a little intimidated when they get in the car with me.

...maybe they just think I have grabby hands...

"mommy pays for gas, insurance, and the car, but I pay for my mods. weee"

If you have the money to modify your car you should be doing something responsible with it. ie, helping your parents pay for it.

tried that. they want me to save money and use it for myself rather than spend it on that. cause a lot of my money i DO save...70% of every single one of my checks last year went to college spending money. they don't want me to "throw away" money on that right now, as they put it. i've offered to help but they say "honey, i'd rather you save for later, or use it to get the stuff you need and want rather than pay for that. we are doing this for you and you don't need to feel like you need to take over payments now. soon enough you're gonna be on your own and will have to pay for all this. for now just let us take care of it and go get the stuff you need with your money" and its not like i go hog wild on my mods either.

and fyi also if i get my co op job this summe.r..big if...then i already told them i'd start payin some of my gas, and be responsible for ALL my groceries and food expenses. they do these things gradually for me. isntead of dumping every single payment on me at once, they wean me off.
