Hi all
I have the V6 with 110,000 km on the car right now, and I am looking to SC the car, now is that too much KM for the engine to handle a SC? also which one should I get the alpine stg 2 or the RIPP? I might perfer the Alpine becuase it comes with all the parts oppose to the RIPP one where it requires an exhaust and header, right? Please help I am looking to get this asap.

Thank You

Sniper FTW.....Its cheaper than the Alpine and more upgradeable. You will be running between 3-5PSI, tuning wouldnt be necessary(but recommend of course), and you could run it on stock exhaust and headers. Plus its on sale for $2300 and change from TC. If I had the cash i would jump on it. Good Luck!

So you've got 110,000 km, that would be 68,350 miles. That's pretty high to slap a S/C on there...Make sure you have a compression test done first if you do it.

You probably have another 50,000 km left before you MIGHT start having engine problems. That's a lot of money for a short amount of time. Plus the S/C is going to put even more stress on your engine.

I'm not saying don't do it, or that you'll have any problems, I'm just saying make sure you know what you're getting in to.

You're comparing apples to oranges. A better comparison would be an Alpine stage0 to a sniper. Both are designed to work with stock fuel systems, assuming you're not going with a full header, exhaust system. I think you can run a full exhaust, but full boost will be lower, which generally leads to different pulleys, increasing the boost levels, needing more fuel, bigger injectors, fuel pump, tuner, more power, then we need a clutch, of course now with more boost we need intake cooling ($), and on and on and on, you know what they say, "How fast do you want to spend?". The Sniper is cheaper right now with the sale, and once you add the cooling the money gets more even although NGM's has more capacity, more cooling I think.

The Sniper is back to regular price, but it's still a better deal.

Alpine guys love their setups and will recommend Alpine...

NGM guys love their setups and will recommend NGM...

RIPP guys will sell you their setups and then go buy NGM or Alpine...

I gave my money to NGM for the win!

ArchAngel, another option would be buying a low mileage engine from a salvage yard and putting on the S/C of your choice. I bought a very low mile engine 2yrs ago for $700.00. I believe you can get them cheeper if you shop around. While your engine is out you might as well put in a upgrade clutch and flywheel then you should be able to enjoy your Tib for many miles. I have had both Alpine and NGM S/C and although Alpine has a good product i like the upgradeable options that the Sniper gives you. It also make more WHP for the money.Good luck on your choice.

Well I think you should go with the Sniper

I would stay away from the RIPP setup, if you luck out and are able to tune it by some miracle or fluke it may give you more peak hp but I would be willing to bet that a 300whp RIPP setup will be slower than a 250whp alpine or ngm setup due to the powerband.

Go with something safe, get the NGM setup.

if you get the sniper...you can upgrade to an assassin by putting on the bigger mp90 blower and injectors.....from what i understand..that's all you need to do the upgrade

(if you want more power in the future)
