Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

Hey Optimum,

JW how are those CoverKing seat covers holding up?

I'm thinking of getting some myself here in the near future, they look great!
Hi G Money, they're holding up great and definitely make the ride more comfortable. In addition to more comfort, they also provide better grip through corners. The material itself is still in the same condition as when I bought them new. I'm very happy with it and I'll probably get this type of covers for my future cars as well. :3_smile:

Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

Interesting development today. After getting my Tibby ready by putting in an CARB-approved Injen SRI and the OEM header, I took my car in for the smog test.

...and, they refused to smog my car b/c:

[1] Too modified and they don't feel comfortable working on my car (even though I only had OEM and CARB-exempt parts on the Tib).

[2] They think I'm a spy for the State Bar and don't want to risk getting fined $10,000 for a $12.00 job.

LOL~ I was like, "Seriously?" They also asked me to not come back to their store, lol~

Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

Aside from visual mods, suspension and carb exempt exhaust - you don't have anything on there right now that would be complicated - no turbo, no supercharger, etc lol.

What a nutty place - should've seen if they'd smog a bmw m5 or 760li - lol way more complicated engine and emissions systems and costly to work on than a tiburon....glad my car is registered in FL.

Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

Yeah I don't completely live here by choice. I'm a grad student at UC Irvine, lol.

Not quite that bad but there are still some pretty nutty laws around in irvine. And they pick up our trash daily so that no trash sits for more than 24 hours, lmao.

Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

So very glad that I don't live in California anymore.
I LOVE Southern California. :3_winkthu This is just a minor annoyance I can easily deal with once in a while.

===================================

Today, I did some small work on my Tib that is not anything interesting or fancy but hugely satisfying for me.

First, I successfully extracted two bolts that I broke off inside the hole by mistake. One of the bolts goes into a mounting bracket that sits on top of the power steering unit and which provides a mounting point for my engine cover. I broke this bolt during the Megan header to OEM header swap last week.

The 2nd bolt I extracted is one of the two fuse box bolts--the one that sits closer to the strut assembly. This one was more difficult b/c of the tight space due to the intake piping, wiring, fuse box, and the battery. I couldn't fit my regular drill in that space so I used my Dremel instead. After almost an hour, I finally extracted that broken bolt that was in there since February of 2008~! (first month I started modding the Tib). :3_wink: This "accomplishment" made me the most happy. lol~

Second thing I did was to modify my Megan 4-1 header. Unlike the OEM header which can be installed and uninstalled easily without moving anything else out of the way, the Megan header requires that 4 bolts be loosened and/or removed from the P/S pump assembly. Then the P/S pump needs to be pushed aside to the left a bit before I can fit the Megan header to the block.

Not wanting to swivel the P/S pump again b/c it's time-consuming, I used my Dremel with some heavy-duty metal cutting shank to cut off a chunk of metal from the left-most corner of the Megan header. I then smoothed out the part for a clean look. Just in case of possible rust issues, I'm planning on applying some 2000 F high-temp clear coat in that area for protection.

lol, sorry for a boring update~ :3_wink:

Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

An easy-out kit is a beautiful thing.
Yes, yes it is. For those two bolts, however, I extracted the bolts w/o using the extract kit. When I started to drill the broken bolts, the bolts began to rotate clockwise and just popped out from the other end. :3_a_puh:

========================================

Getting annoyed by the oxidized clear coat on my CF hood, I applied some Quixx scratch remover just to see whether it would do anything. And...it DID~!! It was too dark for me to get all the spots but I'm gonna go back and apply some more. Eventually, I will either get the hood re-clearcoated or paint it OEM silver and keep the vents black.

Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

I finally found a smog shop where the price was decent ($30.00 out-the-door) and took my Tib in today after work.

And.....my Tib FAILED~!! lol~

I failed b/c of my ECU. After disconnecting the battery for several hours while working on my Tib on Wednesday, I forgot to put some miles on her before getting a smog test done. So, with less than 15 miles since the battery reconnect, my ECU threw a "not-ready" code.

Good news is that:

[1] I passed the visual and emissions components.

[2] I didn't get charged anything since he only charges if I pass. I'm scheduled to go back next Wednesday for a retest. He said he won't have to subject my car to the emissions part since I did it already today. All he needs to do is check my ECU for readiness and it should take less than a minute. =)

My Tib had a CARB-exempt Injen SRI and Injen SuperSES exhaust installed when I passed the visual and the emissions tests.

ASM Emission Test Results

At 15MPH:

___Hydrocarbons (PPM): Max = 56, Average = 4, Mine = 4 PASS
___Carbon monoxide (%): Max = 0.51, Average = 0.01, Mine = 0.01 PASS
___Nitrogen oxide (PPM): Max = 443, Average = 16, Mine = 0 PASS

At 25MPH:

___HC (PPM): Max = 40, Average = 4, Mine = 0 PASS
___CO (%): Max = 0.49, Average = 0.01, Mine = 0.00 PASS
___NO (PPM): Max = 730, Average = 18, Mine = 0 PASS

Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

Got some new (used) parts recently.

On Saturday, I met up with a fellow SoCal NT member to buy some GK headlights for a project.

The passenger's-side. For now, it'll be left alone.

The driver's-side. It's been sanded down due to some imperfections and small scratches.

And a stock Infinity subwoofer and hardware, purchased from NT as well (for a future audio project).

======================================================

And, some good news. Took my car back to the smog shop after putting about 150 miles and I PASSED~!!

Once my header wrap arrives, I'm going back to aftermarket~ :3_a_puh:

Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

Yesterday, after work, I drove to Montclair and silver_platinum (Luis) went with me.

I also saw a kitted silver FL2. I don't think he's a member on NT.

In Montclair, here's what I did. Anyone care to guess?

Re: ___******* Silver G-Games *******___

what kind of front bumper do you have the car is amazing
:3_wink: Thx, that's the G-Games Thunder front bumper, courtesy of Import Shark.

===============================================

Now that I've passed the smog test, I was going to reinstall my Fujita CAI today and give the CARB-exempt Injen SRI to my GF's V6 Tib. The Injen SRI with the Amsoil dryflow filter, however, didn't fit behind her headlight. So I ended up giving her my Fujita CAI and kept the Injen SRI for myself. :3_yummie:

Installing a CAI on an FL2 Tib was much easier than installing it on a GK or GK FL Tibby b/c the FL2's OEM air box already has a pseudo-SRI design to it. This means I didn't have to remove the front-left wheel to pull back on the wheel liner to take off any air box tubing from below the car. :3_nosthum

Anyhow, here are some final installed pictures.

And while I was at it, I also cleaned her MAF sensor and throttle body. Needless to say, she was very happy with her new free mod. :3_chubby:
