Bye bye Tiburon

Yesterday a guy came to check out my Tib.
Long story short, he loved it, and is buying it from me tomorrow. He's so excited, he's been texting me already and ordered a few performance parts for it.
It's bittersweet, but I've done it all with the platform, and it's time to move on.
A 211whp N/A Build.
A 330whp Assassin build
A 340whp GT3071R Turbo I4 build.
A stanced/fitted Tibby.
Full autocross setup. And a track capable HPDE car.

I've lost my love for the GK platform. i've "been there, done that" over the course of 6+ years.
I know the insides and outs of the cars.
Not bragging, just saying the love is no longer there. I don't get excited driving my Tiburon anymore. So we're getting divorced.
I'm at a time in my life where being a dad is more important than having a car that just sits around and does not get driven but 200-300 miles a month.
But I think the new owner will share the same passion for the car that I've had over the years.

Newtiburon.com, you've been great. I'll still poke in & out, as I get a fair amount of PM's from people for technical advice, and engine building advice/how-to's.

So if you want a quote to have me build you an engine, please contact me through Facebook.
www.Facebook.com/KDMRacing.

I'm still very in love with the KDM scene. It's nearing a 7 year mark for me as an owner, modder, racer, and enthusiast.
I'll be replacing the Tibby in a couple months with either a '13 Genesis Coupe, or a Veloster Turbo, I'm not sure yet.
But until then, it's my Hyundai Tucson :)

I'm in the same boat. Just parted out a few weeks back, sold everything off & the tibby is sitting stock waiting to be sold or traded in. Once you get to a certain point with the car it's a blast, but after that point we all get that hunch to move into new unchartered waters.

I was deeply looking into the Veloster Turbo, but the lack of upgrades they did with the suspension with the added HP and neglect in even tuning it has turned me off. What's the point of adding power to a car if you're not going to take the care and consideration into building the platform to properly support it. It just not a driving enthusiasts car :3_sadley:

For myself I think it will be buy a house & something nice to wrench on afterwards that can chillax in the garage. A few new whips catch my eye, but those damn TT Soarers & SC300's just turn me on like a light switch ^_^

Dang man sucks that you are having to part ways with the Tib, however it is awesome you are staying in the KDM scene. There need to be more people like you that stick around. I am sure eventually you will get the mod bug again if you purchase a new Gen Coupe or Veloster Turbo. I have a feeling both of those cars will be better platforms to work with. On a happier note, less than one week till the NOLA meet!

I didn't know you very well but feels like something has been stripped away with your selling of the Tiburon. It gives a sad sense of how the Tiburon can get old and die which is concerning. I absolutely love the thing and obviously you loved it even more with all the work you put into yours. Would I ever feel the same about my own Tib? Well maybe I need kids to find out.

Getting bored of a car with 340WHP makes me wonder how much more performance you need to satisfy you.

Well, for some people once they get to a certain amount of power they are satisfied pretty much forever. Others just never have a fast enough car :)

We need to make a South Central Sammich Meet for your honor~~~

Sad to see another knowledgeable member bow out. Real life happens though. It's all about personal happiness in the long run.

Good luck with your car future and it will be nice to see you randomly on here offering your helpful insight.

Although I have been flamed by you, my 11 years of knowledge doesn't compare and I at least have the respect to aknowledge what you have done for members here. Good luck and don't let that knowledge slip away into an abyss...please stop by and share it.

Best of wishes to you. Enjoy your kids, they are better than any car will ever be

You should see if they would sticky a "KDM racing" thread for you and you could leave an email address in the thread. sort of like a sponsor. that way others could get ahold of you

After seeing your thread yesterday i thought the same thing... :3_sadley:
My Tib is probably on it's way out soon - parting all of my aftermarket goodies and turbo kit out...

Sad to see it the Tib go, but it's on on to bigger and better things! :3_bier:
Honestly, I can't wait to sell mine...

do you mind if i ask for advise as you learn more about the platform? it would be nice to learn together, being that its a different car than what you have been used to. and it will be my first boost experience. Id like to compare notes

nice choice. that is what my first hyundai was. but it was in a terrible crash and it just wasnt worth sinking money into. if you cornered to hard you could actually feel the chassi shift
