From what I've read on this forum, the stock ECU isn't really properly tunable, but it can be reconfigured somewhat (chase206's
OpenGK project provides a lot of information), possibly enough to get you your burbles, by slightly screwing with the fuel map.
The videos I've seen of people running big turbos, superchargers and weird tunes have utilized either an advanced piggyback or a standalone ECU. You can get an idea of what you'll need to be doing from e.g. the wonderful people of the
Pibracing channel on Youtube. People have at least had success with MegaSquirt 3s.
Personally, I just received a simple (though not cheap.. it was just under 800€) E85 conversion kit with a tunable injector controller - not a true piggyback but like 70% of one - which should be able to give me more power at the high end. Once I get it installed and tested and the car on the road, I'll post a story about it on this forum.
