I get plenty of compliments on my car. A guy at worked asked me what car I drove, and he said it looked f***** sweet! For the price range, this is the best lookin car.
Yeah I just had a bunch of Russian exchange students tell me they love my car the other day. Yeah I don't know where I was going with that story but ummm k. Off to watch Redline.

I know what you mean man. I hate it how stupid some people could be.

I remember this one I was talking to a friend of mine who I haven't seen for a couple years and we're talking about cars and stuff and I say the Tiburon is one of my favourites and he gives me a weird look and says the usual stuff on how it's not good and everything. Then he told me how he's getting a Prelude....

People are starting to hate more because they know that the RWD Tib will come and dominate and compete very well with the WRX, 350z, G35, and Evos.

Also because our cars look real Real Good.

You got them russians over the bridge too. Some of the girls are complete hotties but yea,I get more compliments on my car than any car I've ever owned.

When it comes to Hyundai in general ppl down talk it. Because its not a well known Car Company to make popular cars, such as the Evo, STI, SI an the Srt-4. But when u actually think about it there are more crash ratings and death tolls on those cars then on ANY hyundai ever made (as far as i know). Personally i like the Tiburons better, more of a sleek look, nice interior, and just because they dont come stock 13sec or 14 sec 1/4 mile doesnt mean u cant enjoy the car and mod them up to become that fast. Just makes everything more fun in a sense that you can say "I MADE MY CAR THIS FAST, I DIDNT JUST GO TO A LOT AND BUY IT MODDED UP"

The End....

Point well made!:3_winkthu

It's just something you have to get used to. A lot of my long-held friends thought I was crazy for buying a Hyundai, my dad still pokes fun at it and calls it a taxi, and anyone in a domestic or japanese import thinks it may look good but it's a slow POS. Yep, it ain't the fastest car or even moderately fast. WHICH IS WHY WE MOD!! If I were single, I can guarantee I could hook up much easier than the dude in the mustang or eclipse! I bought it for looks and if they don't like it...they can like it, lump it, or leave it! End of discussion!!

Here's a story: I like to car shop. I am an car-aholic so I constantly go to various dealerships just to look at new cars. I went in to a Nissan dealer one day, parked, got out and walked up to a 350Z. There were three salesmen standing outside and one looks over at me and says "You gonna trade that in and get you a REAL car?" To be honest, I didn't know what to say. I was so surprised that he would even say that. I simply walked up and asked him "What?" He said it again but instead said "get rid of that Hoon-Di and buy you a real car". I asked him to define a real car. What makes a real car a real car. All he could do was point at the 350Z. I said "so, a japanese car wheels and overpriced sticker, right?"
He looked at me again and just shook his head and started in on how much I paid, how much it was and how much of a value it was...blah blah blah. We debated the finer points of cars vs. price and after I quoted specs on about 6 different cars, I think he had a better understanding of what a real car was.

Now repeat that scenario at least 4 times at various car dealerships from Gastonia to Charlotte, NC. They are all haters and I LOVE IT!

Holy huge post batman! :3_pimatyo

they all hate because they're ignorant
Why are they ignorant? What don't they know about the hyundai/tiburon?

Whenever some bashes it's along the lines of this:

Weak underpowered v6, in a 3100lb car.

Are you saying that's a lie? I try to qualify it saying, "yes, it's a v6 but it's only 2.7L", but to be honest I'm tired of trying, especially when the very people (usually honda racers around here) can fall back onto their k-series.

It's not ignorance to say that a car can look nice but perform terribly or is substandard. But looks are forever subjective. But the fact that it's 3100lbs with hardly enough power to break 14's is not a lie. Or how about this one:

The fact that less than a handful have made it sub 11's; one being an all out drag car the other being a twin turbo/twin-engined, AWD gutted shell.
I've also found that we shoot ourself in the foot. "I may have lost the race but I looked better..." Seriously, wtf is that? That's like, "I have more hp per liter." Or how about the fact that we continuously race stock cars with our snipers and stealths and assassins and alpine superchargers? "Well such and such had a 3.5L vq35de/ or modular v8..." It still holds very little stock. Why? You're so big and bad until one of those modded ones comes up and puts you in your place. There's always something faster...Fact.

Ok I'm done ranting, emoing out, blah blah, etc. flame suit is hanging up, I really don't care whether this gets flamed on because I feel it's the truth, those who think otherwise may be in denial. That's fine too...keep living the dream.

i dont know guys ive been around Ontario and Quebec,,ive had my share of compliments ,,but i mean you gotta always expect ignorant people trashing the car,,but you gotta take it as motivation ,,haha it pushes me and i love it ,having poeple give me those funky looks then they zoom right past you ,,just to see them pulled over by the cops 1/4 mile up the road,,haha ,,but once again grandmas' cuzin ,brother who worked for the laundry mat's owners son will always have that killer 900 whp import,,

I agree, but its not like the Tiburon NEEDS to be the best or one of the best out there. Honda's have their weaknesses too. On a tuning basis Honda's are better for the most part. Tiburon's DON'T get the credit the deserve because of the name and some of the factory weaknesses that can be pretty easily improved on. Wasn't that the whole idea back in the day for a wimpy little import with not power? Turning something cheap, small and slow into something fast? I love my car and I laugh at those who hate. I have a car that I like that has potential and is different from the norm. With I/H/E and 9lb flywheel my car is by no means fast but its fun to drive, it surprises a lot of people, even the hardlined honda fanboys. They still talk ****, but who doesn't? Its what people do. I hate two kinds of people

1st...... Those who talk **** about a car when they haven't got a clue about it
2nd..... People who talk **** about the car they drive.... My advice is buy something else. Faster cars can be had.

I guess I would fall into this category.

So the question in return is, "why not sell it and buy what you want?"

The simple answer? It's a Hyundai. Let me explain. We all know about the depreciation of the car. I owe a certain amount on the car that even if I sold and made out well, would not be enough to pay off the car and leave me with additional funds to buy another car. Unless said car was a 1995 or less with high mileage or lots of problems.

So why not mod it to the point where I'd be happy?

Easy. I'm a college student, 95% of my money that I have goes straight to tuition, books, gas, eating. I'm not going to go into debt to mod my car like others have chosen to do i.e. using student loans to buy a supercharger. That's not my goal.
So I drive it...unhappily which is why it has ceased being my nice car and turned into a mode of transportation. I have contemplated selling it numerous times. But again, even if I got 2500 above what I owe, that's still not enough to buy a nice car. Boo ****ing hoo...I've learned my lesson, won't make the same mistake twice. For those who love their car please keep driving and modding it. Also this isn't meant to offend, just speaking my peace.

It'd be nice to get around this tuning **** block the tibs have to make even more power... but until then the v6s have to stay in the 12s because of fwd traction problems and the fact that they can't go any higher than 450whp without a giant penis in the way of tuning. Unless its something else.. for I think its because piggy backs can only do so much until you can't modify the maf signal anymore and youre in the trash can until someone decides to come out with a standalone tuning solution... for both fuel and ignition.

Until then the tib will not be taken seriously considering mid 12s isn't that fast at all in the tuning world.

I know thats pretty much out of nowhere but thats one of the most common arguments ever "fastest tib only runs 12s" well guess what no one cares about hyundai so thats why were all stuck.

That's right. Not fast at all considering the competition. Only a few people have actually gone outta their way and stepped outside the box to come up with stuff for the tib. I'm talking innovation, not just selling a borla exhaust. If only two or three people step up to bat in that area, we're going to continue at a very slow pace. Hyundai the company wanted to do the same thing, but because of the bureaucracy involved, that didn't or wouldn't fly. Then we got the people like pross who are afraid of copyright infringement. So we're basically stuck and no one wants to band together to promote the greater good of hyundai. They want to become more known yet they are afraid of working together for the cause.

That's how I see it anyway.

Glad to see you have learned this lesson, this lesson was a hard one for me to learn! I bought my car because I liked the styling and I thought it had potential. Granted, I didn't do any research to see how much potential. In addition, you just didn't see many of them on the road, especially the yellow ones. About a year after I bought it, I saw another yellow one and wanted to trade mine in....but didn't.

Trust me man, I was not attempting to attack you in any way, I was just saying MY piece. I love my car. It has me for the moment. Funny thing is I knew very well what I was walking into when I bought it. I DID have a 03 GT as well. I like the car, not because it was the only thing I could afford. I like being "out of the norm" and again I like the car, call me strange as I've test drove many things. Everybody's situation is different and Not everybody is going to have the same feelings. :3_winkthu Hyundai will IMO continue to get better as they have just about every year. It's all love brotha :3_pimatyo

I agree. Tuning for Tiburons has come a long way but is still in need of a major break through. I know TC at NGM isn't going anywhere any time soon so things will get interesting in the future. Boostology is also trying to do bigger and better things so thats awesome as well. I do know my next car will most likely be RWD. Hyundai or not.
