I believe my clutch slave cynder is toast - I see oil around it. I was driving on friday night when my tibby started to lose grip when I was shifting. So the next day I am driving my car started slowing down. I pulled over on the highway I tried putting it back in gear and it wouldn't move. I did not get any grinding noise and the cluth pedal got really soft. I push the clutch pedal in it comes back out but really soft. I think my clutch and flywheel is toast, but def my slave cylinder.
I tried asking the dealer Balise and it may run me about 3 grand.
$ 1200.00 flywheel
$ 340.00 clutch kit
$ 80.00 slave cylinder
$ 90.00 diagnostic fee
$ 80.00 towing
$ 800.00 to 900.00 labor

Any one help please I need a shop I use my car for work and I really don't have time for any aftermarket parts I just want to take it some shop that is good and will not stiff me.

My Tibby is a 2003 v6 5 speed any help will be appreciated thanks.

1200 for a flywheel? Holy ****. Just get an Ark or Fidanza one. They're MUCH cheaper.

You should wait for aftermarket parts. The stock parts are HORRIBLE! And I'm telling you that 1200 for a flywheel is a gigantic rip. You can get an aftermarket one (that's better) for about 400.

hey this should be big help..i hope..go to the DIY section under engines and then slave cylinder mod, you just might have a loose slave cylinder...follow the steps and bleed it and add more fluid it just might be your problem!...idk lets hope it works.

Do what I did. Buy a fidanza or Ark flywheel and an aftermarket clutch and pay Someone you knew $500 todo the Job. Sorry for the Spelling... it's not easy to write on a tablet PC.

edit: Oh and find Somebody yen knew with AAA to get your Car towed So you don't have to pay.

You may not need a new clutch or flywheel at all.

If your car was drivable prior to this incident, you would know if the clutch was burnt. If it is in fact worn out, the car would still be drivable, but only if you drive very gently (easy on the gas). When all of the friction material wears off, the only thing left is metal and rivets. If the clutch hydraulic system is working properly, there should be enough pressure to allow the car to move under it's own power, but mashing the gas would simply cause the flywheel to slide against the nearly-bare clutch disc surface.

You should have noticed this, as it happens fairly slowly. Mine deteriorated to this state in a period of about 3 weeks from no unwanted slip to completely toast. If that doesn't sound like what was happening when driving, I'd guess that the mechanic or dealership you took it to is trying to screw you into buying a new clutch and flywheel that you don't need.

Now, onto the parts. Even if you do need to get a new clutch and flywheel, there's no reason to spend $1200 for the stupid dual mass OEM fly. If you're insisting on OEM, I believe autozone carries remanufactured OEM flywheels for about $700. An OEM clutch kit should only be about $200 there. If you're willing to go aftermarket, you can get the flywheel for $300-$400 (these will have the benefit of being machinable/have replaceable friction plates) and you can get a performance clutch kit for similar money to what you're looking at for the clutch kit from the dealer.

Take your car to an independent mechanic first. If you simply have a hydraulic issue, there's no need for a new clutch and flywheel. Don't fix what isn't broken!

yes, if you have oil by the slave cylinder, than the first thing you should do is bleed the slave. it is super easy, and can be done w/ one person, although much faster and easier with two. that might just do the trick.

but why is it leaking? could have been like that for awhile, might have a leaking slave... all of which you could get from a supply house, and do your self fast and cheap and it might work.

by no means should you spend 1200 on an oem flywheel... they suck, and for that price, you could get a rental car for the week, and take it to a reliable mechanic. hell, they should only be charging you around 500 for a full clutch install. some do it for 300, some 800 but still. the dealer is going to/is planning on ripping you off...... if you can read.... HA! don't want to be an ***, but being an *** like that is not the way to get help! fyi.
