hows the install on one of these?? and i heard some pretty scary things with these setups...any issues, anything heard or anything i should watch out for??? thnx!!!

 

Yeah I will have to say that the install wasn't like "plug and play" or anything, lol. As far as the 'scary' things go...I currently have a 6lb pulley on this right now which is supposed to run good with stock internals (I never had/noticed any problems with it), not a whole lot to worry about. However, I am also including a 12lb pulley which I DO NOT recommend running on stock internals....This is totally an "at your own risk" type deal.

 

I have headers, n' exhaust would i be able to run this set up safely on my car? obviously i would need a tune when installed but besides that would i be ready to go?

 

Yeah bud...Should be able to roll as long as you have headers (most definitely) and exhaust. And you are correct, a tune will be needed as well. Don't expect to see the full potential of this kit without the proper tune. I might also recommend at least a stage 2 or stage 3 clutch. Not necessary, but it will allow you to put more power to the ground without burning your stock clutch up.

 

It's not like I have the $2,500 to spare right now, but just hypothetically: is there any reason at all to install this on a V6 with an automatic transmission.

 

To be honest, I don't know of too many people that have this kit installed with an auto tranny. Most people go for the Alpine or NGM kits with auto tranny. I know Mr Photoman has an Alpine kit with his auto, I think (someone correct me if I am wrong). He would probably be a good person to ask. I know he is running strong in the 13s on the 1/4 mile.

It would make sense to say that it would probably be just as good if not better for an auto tranny because of the speed level changes without having to interrupt power flow.

 

if someone can confirm this will work with an Auto Tranny and that only Headers and an Exhaust is needed to run this setup fine, I have some interest in this definitely

 

spike 13 is turbo and recently killed his auto tranny, but it handled up to nearly 300hp. so if you can run that with only exhaust and headers you wouldnt be pushing numbers over 250hp, so youd be fine.

of course it will work with auto...they have stronger tyrannies anyway..i would only do this kit with an auto....ripp has a bad history of blowing peoples engines when done incorrectly, and you must be a god at tuning to get it to work proplerly without damaging anythign

 

Agreed....Definitely recommend a professional tune if you are anywhere close to unsure of what you are doing.

If anyone is scared to use this you shouldn't be. If you install the Hydra and set the a/f 12.5ish you should safe. Let the hydra do the work(if its as good as they say lol).

Wow i want this, Great Deal! I was debating to get a turbo but this is great. Could i slap a HKS BOV on this thing? Lol. Does this thing pull through or lose steam on the top end?

 

It currently has an upgraded GREDDY BOV on it. Not that crappy stock one that comes with it originally.

Well any supercharger can significantly mess up an engine if not tuned/installed/maintained correctly.

i have a question, what controls the boost? i see no wastegate or actuator anywhere

 

A pulley controls the boost. Currently it has a 6lb pulley on it and I also have a 12lb pulley that I will be including with it.
