Hello tiburon community,
Well for starters i am the owner of two tiburons, one being a 2006 beta and the other a 2005 delta.
in the few past weeks i have pulled the motor out of the 2005 to do the swap on the 2006. i have also removed the ac from the delta and have also removed all harnesses from the 2005 and ecu fuse box under the hood and dashboard, power steering and fuel lines under the hood. i did all this in my free time at work until i had the2006 there and i started pulling everything from it to swap over. the swap went excellent i took my time and managed to have it done in 48 hours on a weekend we were closed....... :websta:
so here is the issue after everything is in and before i put the dashboard back in i want to test and see if the motor will turn over.... and there is nothing but some relays clicking in the fuse box under the dash and the ignition light (green ring around key slot) is going off when the key is in the run position. i have power at the starter and everywhere else that is needed and ground everywhere else. so im officially stumped..... i have no ideas other than the factory alarm system is preventing me for some reason..... even swapped the lock cylinders thinking that the vehicle couldnt recognize the 2006 key and still the same outcome :diaf:

So summing this up ( I know this is a lot to take in ) I need help and plenty of it so im open to opinions, ideas, anything I could of possibly missed. im a well season mechanic and can do anything but electrical is somewhat of my weak spot.

please reply!

Thanks again!!!

First of all props for taking on such a challenging project.

Are you getting power to the accessories? i.e. wipers, radio, lights, etc..

Also I had a similar issues with my Eclipse once. I had proper ground and was getting power to the starter except the cable going to the starter was broken. It was hell do diagnose, fortunately the break was close to the plug so I just cut off the broken piece and reconnected the plug - started right up after that.

Keep us updated on your issue, and best of luck.

Yes i have power to accessories and everything is functional. the only issue is im loosing power to the ignition when i try and start it.... im seriously at a loss at this point im going to start looking through some wiring diagrams today and possibly trying to see if there is a way to bypass the alarm system...

Thanks for the reply and for the rest of New Tiburon keep some suggestions coming it would be greatly appreciated

ok new found info on this i wanted to test and see if the motor would actually turn over. so with the key in the ignition and to the run position I go to the fuse box under the hood and removed the start relay and with a volt meter I checked to see which terminal has power and took a jumper wire and mad the car actually start and run.

figuring this out eliminates a lot of issues that could of been the cause ( grounds, power supply wrong connections). So with this being figured out im still some what stumped on why the ignition is locking me out from starting it with the key...

Please reply any ideas suggestions would be appreciated

Was the body control module swapped too? If it hasn't I would do so.

Simple reason being there are many computer functions processed and transferred through the module. There are several different part numbers to accommodate all the different combinations of features and functions equipped to the car. Some part numbers work on multiple combinations but some are... exclusive.

It's worth a try in my opinion. Aside from this check all the appropriate fuses and electrical connections.

Okay, I'll bite. Why are you doing this? It's the same car... I'm just looking for the logic of all this hassle.

Also, you won't be parting anything out here. I've edited your post. You don't even have close to enough posts to sell anything here. If we catch you doing it through PMs, (we can see all) all parties will be dealt with appropriately. All posts inquiring about parts have also been deleted.

not the same engine went from the beta engine to the delta. all harnesses are different and is going from abs to non abs.

I am gonna try to be a valid member to this site by making my post and following fourm rules...

Thanks again for the help

actually i did change the BCM. and the harness on the crash pad. So back to square one, I believe im going to wire a push button start and bypass the ignition.... Thats how ive been starting it any way.

Thanks again and let me know if you think of anything else.

You might not like this answer but the Hi Scan Pro that the dealer uses can look at the immobilizer signal and it will tell them if it's the culprit or not.

I tried looking in the manuals but I can't find where I've seen that before. I know it's in there though.

Have you looked at the diagrams for the start circuit? It can show you were you might want to test for voltage to see if it's not making it somewhere.

I downloaded the 2006 wiring diagrams off NewTiburon and found out how to troubleshoot the Start Inhibitor and that is my issue. So for now i have wired in a push button start and im gonna keep using the service manual and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot it.

Thanks for helping and keep the ideas coming..

Ill have an album up soon of all the Hassle it is to swap these cars. I would of just purchased a turbo kit for the 4cyl but I had a wreaked v6 so thought it would of been the inexpensive route for now.

GL with that. It's tricky but not impossible. Patience is key really. And a helping hand for sure.
