I have an 06 Tib V6 2.7l American version I guess, does it have a belt or a chain I know I've heard that the belt needs to be changed but if it's a chain it does not need to be changed so could any one tell me if it's a belt or chain and how I can tell if it is

All Tiburons have a timing belt which needs to be replaced at about 65K miles.

It's both for the V6.....

The main is a belt and has a short change interval (as mentioned by dct), the belt runs off the crank and drives a cam in each head.
There is a chain from one cam to the other within each head. I'm not aware of a change interval for the chains, but then again I never looked hard at that part.

So, to recap, basically the V6 is a belt. RockAuto has a decent kit with the belt, tensioner, water pump, etc. There is a vendor or two on here that also have the timing kit for a similar price as RockAuto.
