Hey guys!
My name is samantha, and my parents purchased me for my 16th birthday, my dream car! a 2005 Tuscani 2.7 Elisa, to be exact :)
I absolutely love it!
BUT, i had a question, what is the difference between a regular tibby, and the one that I have? they certaintly look the same? But I new something was up when my clutch went out, and we had to pay $1400 to replace it, because it didn't have the regular tibby parts. Even though I love it, what's up with it? lol

Welcome to NT. I have an 05 too! To answer yout question about the tib vs tuscani, the only difference is the name. In NA it is called tiburon and in korea its the tuscani, coupe in the UK etc. A lot of people re badge them to say tuscani or 2.7elisa etc, its all the same car and engine with a few minor differences over the years.
Do you have a 5 or 6 spd?

It's a 5 speed!:)
So does that mean that I was jipped with the clutch price? The guy told that it was the cheapest one around here, because my model make didn't take the standard Tiburon clutch part. That's irrritating.
This entire time, I've felt like I've had like "a special model" haha, or whatever... darnn../:

Tuscani, that's what's call in different country like in Korea and US call it Tiburon. There's not a lot of difference between them. I believe Korean version comes with TCS (traction control system) . People change their slanted "H" for "T" Tuscani badges and 2.7 elisa.
Welcome to NT. Scan your VIN to get info about your car

Your clutch issue is a common problem with these cars. I cant say for sure that you are getting jipped, but I would recommend looking at getting an aftermarket clutch, if you have gotten the new clutch put in yet. Im not sure why they would tell you a standard tiburon clutch would not fit into a tiburon though.... Thays sounds fishy. Do you by chance have any more info on what they told you exactly?

As far differences as already stated above, here in the US its called the tiburon, in the UK, its called the coupé, in korea its called the tuscani, and in other parts of the world where it has been sold, it sometimes is called a. SPIII. The only differences between any of these models, is purely aesthetics, like having a cool badge vs hyundais crooked H logo, passenger cup holder, ect. Engine and drivetrain wise, they are all basically the exact same car.

LOL^^^^^

Anyway.. Welcome Samantha! You will enjoy the tib! I can't answer your clutch question, but bad clutches are normal for tibs. I hope you learn a lot from this forum and as a friendly heads up. Use the "search" button before you ask some of your questions. (Not referring to this thread) Some members will heckle you about it. Most of us are more than happy to help however. Good luck! :3_bier:

Maybe by regular tibby you're meaning the i4?
There is a 4cylinder counterpart

In order to change the clutch in the Tiburon (and/or the Tuscani, it's all the same), you really should pull the motor and transmission out of the top, or drop the subframe and pull it all out of the bottom. It's nearly impossible to replace the clutch without pulling the whole enchilada out of the car and replacing it outside of the car and then putting it all back in again. So you're talking about like $500-$700 in labor depending on the shop and your area. The clutch and flywheel (have to replace both usually, can't just do one or the other) will run you another $700-$1000 in parts. So $1400 isn't a bad price, but it's just because it's a pain in the arse to do it, not because your car needs some kind of special foreign parts.

Welcome to the site and enjoy your car!

The guy lied plain and simple! Look @ your car's Title and it will read 2005 Hyundai Tiburon not Tuscani and as mentioned before the only difference is in the Tuscani edition (not available in the US) has a passenger retracting cup holder, Tuscani badges, Tuscani chrome side steps, and that's about it...no supercharger, no turbo, nothing different in the drivetrain or engine bay...

as for the clutch going out...someone didn't know how to drive a manual because they fixed the clutch problems in the 05-06 models...

also, you might want to do the slave cylinder modification diy...

oh and Welcome to the site!

In Canada they actually ran a Tuscani version starting in mid 2003 to replace the GS-R model I have.

Differences: (Tuscani vs. GS-R Tiburon)
  • Leather / Red Mesh seats instead of all leather.
  • Auto climate control standard instead of an option
  • Multigauges standard instead of an option
  • Dual piston front brake calipers instead of single
  • Tuscani badging

I believe it was only ran for the 03-04 GK model period.
