I'm gonna do myself a favor and put a disclaimer before posting what I'm about to say.
Disclaimer:
I understand waht I am about to get myself into. I also understand that there are much better ways to get power, and much cheaper and easier ways to do so.

However, I'm also a little crazy, and want to do this just for the fun of it, and for a few odd glances when I tell someone what's under my hood.

So, questions or comments are welcomed, however telling me what I already know wouldn't be very nice. So please... no "Don't do that, man! Just do this!" kinda stuff. :3_smile:

Without further ado, I will commence dropping the bombshell. So here goes.:

Turbo/supercharging... it's been done before. But not on a tiburon! I plan on going through the rediculous trouble of putting on a seoulfulracing stage 2+ turbo kit, and a NGM Enforcer Tuner Supercharger kit. On top of that, I have my eye on installing a snowperformance methanol injection kit.

All of this will take place shortly after I chop my tibby, lengthen it behind the b-pillars by about 152mm, and move the engine bay to the HATCH, create a trunk resembling that of an mr2 or lambo-ish type of jobby, and move the engine and drivetrain to the rear.

Yes. Sounds pretty rediculous, expensive, time-consuming, and kinda bothersome. But I ask you ALL this simple question... as it's been asked many times by others. Why not?

I want to then make the car look like it was meant to be that way stock. That way, your average joe will walk up and just think it's an exotic car, and those in the know will know its a tiburon and basically understand all that's been done to it, and appreciate the rarity of such a beauty. :)

I say this all because I wanted to put the feelers out there and see just what all of you guys would think if you walked up to this car and saw it.

So... comments? plz?

What an idiot for putting such work into it but then again I would be amazed that someone did it... Although there is a car that is on youtube that is awd... twin engine one in rear one in front... Both turboed i do believe...

Yes, indeed. I twin engine 02' I believe. I've stayed up long nights watching that video from time to time. It was actually the reason and inspirado for me to do this very project. It may not have NEEDED to be done, but by all means... it sure makes the tiburon community proud. :3_rc5:

If you got the money then sure nothing wrong with it but if you plan to do it with budget or bit by bit because you can't honestly afford it then it'll take you forever to finish such a project. As far as twin charged, I've seen it done on other engines before like a guy here did it to a from factory supercharged Toyota Levin (Japanese) so he basically just had to add the turbo kit to it. There are benefits to it clearly the supercharger will build boost pretty much right from the point you floor it so that's where it's benefit will come in then if I were you or someone taking on something like that I'd put on a large turbo so that kicks in with some stupid power later in the rpm range, clearly the block will have to be built to handle such a setup though and I wouldn't personally go with a SFR kit unless/until they get a OBD2 reflash. I'd mismatch and do a custom setup with a dual fuel rail - that would be easier to tune especially since you would be doing something that hasn't been done before the chances of you getting a proper problem free reflash would be highly unlikely.

Oh boy. Yeah, I haven't heard about a 4AGE being superturbo'd before, but that must have been nice, after all the headaches.

The sfr kit is going to be a little helpful because all their products are nice, and I can switch out parts as needed, and have no idea how I'm going to juggle fuel management or EMS mapping problems yet, but I care not. That's half the fun... the journey and headaches. Yay!

And to all... apparently promo has tried something similar? Well... feel free to tell me what you've learned. Hahaha.

I will be doing this bit by bit, as I have gotten rid of my Grand Prix GTP and am replacing it with the tiburon as my "tinkering" car, and have a 97 chevy s10 4X4 as my new DD. No way I'd ever be able to afford it otherwise... sadly. :(

People don't seem to be as scared at the "moving the engine to the rear" part as the twincharging...

So... umm. Yay!

But yes. In all honestly, I just put my car into the shop, and for the next... oh... three years let's give it... if you're subscribing, check every once in a while. I'll post pics and such as the work progesses.

The moving the engine and chopping up the car will be the most costly part of it I think and personally I wouldn't do that part coz the Tib is sexy as it is and the looks of them is what first caught my interest in them. Rear wheel drive for power I will definitely agree with and if I had the $ to throw away sure I'd find a way to make it rear wheel drive.

isnt this what your talking about (for the bolded section not the rear engine part)

but it sounds like a great project so good luck
Holy crap! To whoever the guy is in that thread that spent all that money doing that....would you like to adopt me? Please!? And spend even half that on me for birthdays and Christmases...you won't hear a peep out of me I swear It'll be like I'm not even there

^^ What Tuscani Joe GT said. Before this turns into a flame fest, everyone step back and see that the guy is a patient and polite guy with big dreams...explain the history of these attempts if you feel the need and move on.

To the OP -- SO MANY noobs come on here and saying they are going to do this or that to the extreme...it's a bit smarter to just get to know the community and set up a project thread once you start instead of posting "I'm gonna do X" threads. People will take you a little more serious.

Silence! I keel you!

No, but seriously, you're right. I should probably have pics up. Call me lazy.
But it's at least in the shop, on jack stands, with the engine on a hoist to put into the stand tomorrow. I've got h7 xenons in 8500k for lows, 12000k for the highs, 3000k for the fogs, and red L.E.D. angel eyes ready to go in after I complete the frame and wiring mods for now.

It's a start. :3_a_puh:

Nopers. That is an AWESOME project, though, and I like his style.
What he has is both styles of supercharger installed. I'll be using a supercharger and turbocharger setup. The centrifugal supercharger looks a loooot like a turbo, though, so the mixup is understandable.

OK, anyone subscribe to Car and Driver? They took a Ford GT engine, put it into a Five Hundred, total cost was 80k or so. And the ****ing Five Hundred was SLOWER than a Stock GT. What does that say? They literally spent weeks on this project, turning two perfectly good cars into one pile of ****, and the other slower than the first.

If you're going to do anything, do what I was stupid enough to ask. Put a ****ing VQ into a tib. It'll fit with the right amount of modifications. And it'll be cheaper than making it mid engine. Plus if you wanna go crazy, put a S/C in there and I swear nobody will touch you. PLUS RWD FFS that's the way to go, I mean, if anyone has the money, and is crazy /stupid enough to do this ****, a VQ swap into a tib is the way to go. Flame away boys.

I'll put pics up tomorrow night of the tibby in my GF's shop, but there isn't much to look at for now.
However, I have the time, tools, and know-how. The only problem is the money.... hence the three year outlook on the project.
But believe you me, trixie tiburon is near and dear to my heart, and I wanna make her one of the more unique rides out there! Yum.

And Promo... VQ? Sounds like fun... ?
I'll stick with rear engine, center drive superturbo for now.

He has spent this but he also have custom dash, Doors, how many monitors he has i bet he only has like 10K in the motor the rest is in Bling...

This guy seems legit thought idk we will see in a couple months when his tib is cut apart... If he attempts then I will be happy with this thread lulz!

subscribed...

To the O.P.- you seem "intelligent" enough to know your limits...all i ask of you is to prove everybody including myself wrong and Actually do something radical with the tib...

don't disappoint.

totally different car tho..

its already RWD, and those guys are a company with a lot of funding and resources that you dont have access to..

even if he manages to put the engine in the back, its gonna cause major suspension problems, requiring a complete suspension overhaul and basically by the end of the build it will no longer be a tiburon anymore. might as well just build a totally new car and put a tiburon body on it.. itd be less work and money..
