Has anyone ever vinyl wrapped their engine plastics? I'd love to do a carbon fiber wrap, I think it'd really compliment the silver parts of the engine cover. If you have done it please post pics no matter what wrap you used and any tips if you have some

When I still had the Tib I wrapped the oil cap, but nothing else. It worked ok, but the vinyl started to get hard after awhile because of the heat. It would probably work ok on the other plastics. A heat gun is always good for tight areas and a felt-wrapped squeegee is very nice too.

Can you do it? YES

WIll it Last? Meh...

Take into consideration, it will be in your engine bay, Like it has already been stated, it gets hot there.

For plastics, if its like a textured plastic the vinyl sometimes dosent stick as well.

You can also try 3M primer 94 to help the sticking process. IT is just an adhesion promoter.

PS: it is VERY easy to go overboard with the carbon vinyl, less is more.

^THIS!

Anyway, I once considered wrapping just the 6 ribs on mine but then thought about it and thought it probably won't last more than a month. I have other stickers in my bay though, which I sprayed clear coat over top of so they are staying in place. Those of which I didn't spray clear coat over have been peeling.

IT looks like this (notice the ARK and KDM sticker peeling):

A nice alternative which will withstand that heat is getting them hydrodipped.
