Where do I mount the hoist on the engine?

Hi all, I'm ready to pull the engine, but I'm not sure where to bolt the chain to the engine. This is my first time pulling any engine, so naturally I'm pretty hesitant to make a call. Any help (and pictures) is appreciated! Thanks!

This is the 2006 V6, not pulling transmission.

I wrapped a chain around the driver transmission mount & fabricated a bracket that bolted in place of the power steering pump to lift the engine+transmission together. If you're just lifting the engine w/o the transmission then you'll have a hook loop in the front driver side & rear passenger side of the engine.

There should be a hook near cylinder 1 and cylinder 6. Cylinder 1 being closest to the passenger seat, and cylinder 6 closest to the driver side heatlight.

I strongly recommend pull both engine and transmission together. It's far easier to separate or mate them out of the car. It's a one person job if you pull both together. Trying to wrestle one or the other separate into the car makes it a two person job and it's dangerous if you are crawling underneath to line things up at the same time. I've done a clutch job both ways and I much rather prefer the both out the top method.

In addition to the aforementioned two hooks, I would suggest making a third point via the transmission's mounting bracket. I.e. while keeping a jack supporting the trans, remove the mount on the chassis side, then put the long bolt (and nut) back in and use that as a hook to keep the engine and transmission assembly level when pulling it out.
