Nice pics, guys. Wish I'd made it. My car's still sitting; can't drive it anymore due to the weather. Busy with work and my personal life, moving, getting married in June. We're taking the Tiburon out to southern California for our honeymoon, which might have to be delayed due to my need to take a microbiology class over the summer.

Next steps for me are sorting out my fuel delivery issue, getting the intakes repaired, going to solid engine mounts, and some new rubber (my tires are so old that they're getting hard ha ha).

What's going on with everyone else?
Congrats on getting married

I hate to bust your balls over this, but part throttle detonation is the #1 stock engine killer when you're F/I, and the best way to make it happen is to use a tuner like that with nothing else. Light throttle is fine, WOT is fine, but in the middle is where you'll rattle the pistons, since you'll be boosting on 14.7;1 AFR and overly advanced timing. I've been there and done it, and it sucks.
Yeah, I know piggyback tuner like safc 2 has it's flaws, but short of trying to wait for TC there isn't many options. It's too bad the reflash tool I have is locked. I don't know if you noticed HHOP site is gone =/

Thanks :)

I did see the thread about HHOP. TC did lots of whining about the cost of that forum. If it's down, my assumption is he's not paying the bill...which makes me wonder what's going to happen to all the people who paid and didn't get their stuff.

NGM wasn't the only way to tune, though...just the easiest. Well, when it worked.

Haha, under one of the Tracking Number threads that TC made on HHOP, I think two people were having a "pinging" sound issue after the reflash. He said he was going to send them 3 different tunes to try out and see if anything turned out different. Yikes.

The hydra ems is difficult to work with, not plug and play,. You have to build a map from scratch.

Oh yeah? Did he tell them both that the problem was caused by their cars, and didn't have anything to do with his tune? That's the standard line, isn't it?

I recall him saying something along the lines of "Call/email me so we can figure out this problem. Ive been using this same reflash forever and nothing as changed." Who knows.

Tony if you interested come spring I might be looking to sell my head unit... got it finally fixed so bi-passed safety so can play movies when ever.... but may be looking for a different one in the spring if you haven't found one by than. It is a Clarion NX702 and as you know only had it half the summer and sitting now for winter...
I think I might stick with mine depending on if I can figure out how to tune it correctly. If not, I think I'll get something newer. I guess with mine, I can customize Time Correction, Parametric EQ, and Crossover Control. :mother_of_god:

Powder coated? I got like several sets lol :p
I think I'll get the ones Kelly gave me powder coated. I think I'll take them to Powder Keg in St. Paul where Josh took his.

If you are wanting crossover control and what not, I would just get a solid HU and run an active 4 channel amp. That way you can set your x-over points right where they need to be. There's no need for external xovers either. It will be more customizable than a HU that you don't have to pay a ton of $$$ for. I'm looking at that PPI phantom p900.4 for just that reason. It should be able to fit where the stock amp goes.

I have no experience with Timing options. Phoenix_risen would know more about that.

I bought one thing for my mom handmade from a friend of mine. How's that for xmas shopping?

Oh, and I guess this is my winter solstice present to myself. As is the trip I'm taking down to Atlanta tomorrow!

Why hello there! ^

Well I've finally sucked it up, and I'm going to buy all4spl's Hydra 2.6.
Now I just need to figure out where I want to bring it to... DB or MAP. Hmmm. :mechanic:
Eric (the guy from France) will hopefully help me out with setting up a base map. Time to hit the books!

You will love the Hydra once you get it working right! I have a 2.5 that I'm going to upgrade to the 2.7.

EDIT: This site might help you understand the Hydra's settings a bit better. It was written for the 2.5 software but has a lot of other useful information, including a trouble shooting primer.

Thanks man!
I was talking to Eric about the 2.7 version (he told me to get the 2.6), and he told me to stay away from it.

"The 2.7 is too recent, no feedback on the tib so it's risky. " :/

If I have any questions I'll be sure to ask you too, since we're in the same timezone just about, and not to mention he's only home like 4 times a month, lol.

Eric also said this after asking about the autotune feature, and creating a basemap to get started:
"Autotune is not that useful, you can do without it. You can also build your basemap yourself. But please, don't act like a honda ricer and take your time building it WITHOUT the mods.

Install the hydra, put the key on but don't start the car, upload and save your hydra file and send it to me, i will help you to build a correct map for starting your car. "

Yea I wanted to get a 2.6 flash but since 2.7 is out they don't flash 2.6 anymore. They said that someone in Ontario is running the 2.7 on a Tib, but I don't know if they meant Ontario, Canda or Ontario, California lol.

And he's right, you don't NEED autotune. It's certainly nice to have of course, but not totally necessary.

The NA map I last worked on got the car to start when warm but idles too low and is still in such early stages that I couldn't drive the car even if I wanted to. Lots of work needed still.
