Ok, so I've searched on this topic and have found people with similar issues. Apparently the 2nd to 3rd hard shift or "jerk" is very common on auto transmissions. But i've heard various things ranging from its a TCM issue and you need to simply reset it, or have it updated at the dealer, or nobody knows what causes it.

Can someone please shed some light on this?

I have a 2005 4 cyl, and it jerks from 2nd to 3rd when the gas is depressed. The way I get around it is by manually letting my foot off the gas before shifting from 2nd to 3rd in tiptronic, but I'm tired of doing this and I want to possibly sell the car - but it will be impossible to sell with this issue. Thanks in advance for any help

When this happened to me, I just reset the TCM and problem solved

Thanks guys, but I've pulled the fuses & the battery cable multiple times & the issue is still there. It does seem to have some effect, as it doesn't jerk as hard, but over time it goes back to how it was. I'm not completely convinced that its not a computer issue, I think it still is - but resetting doesn't seem to be helping.

Tranny flush, trans filters clogged?

It's a known issue through Hyundai, i Have the same problem in my 2006 GT V6. Resetting the TCM won't help in the long run since its an adaptive TCM.

You can go to a dealership and have it flashed (if it hasn't been done already) with the TSB for GK2.7 Shift Improvement Feel. Thats the TSB for mine, your's might be different, unless you have the same 2.7L 4Speed Auto trans that i have.

Be prepared to drop $90 at the dealership for this. Or you could grab a $12 bottle of lucas transmission tuner, its a microlubricant that eases the shifts. 1/3 of a bottle on a full pan will work just fine, drive for 5-10miles and you should notice a difference.

Pulling the fuse or battery only works on the 03-04 tcm. 05-08 has to be dealer flashed. I only paid $60 at my dealer. Its been six months and still holding. The tech actually went through and re calibrated my shift points for a better performance feel as well. Worth it to have it done in my opinion.

Most of these people haven't been on here in 10-11 years, you won't get a response.
What year is yours?
Did you try any of the suggestions?

OK, this is a Tiburon forum, last one build was about 16 years ago, so the transmission is likely completely different. We may not have much help on your car.
Have you searched online for your model, year, and issues?
