Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

Dom,

Sorry to hear your car was broken into....I bet it feels like you just flushed $343 down the toilet...

Gamz,

Thes install should be pretty easy as I've already prepped the engine bay for it but I can't put it in yet because I don't have the adapter for the throtle body... :( . When I get that last part we should do a mod day.

I need to install this beast and do a couple of wheel bearings.

Mart,

I actually have your IM sitting in my garage....I bought a spare a couple of months ago and modified it (the one I bought not yours) to plug up some of the holes for vaccum lines in preparation for the S/C. I picked up a vacumm manifold from Rickna in order clean up the vaccum line routing.

Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

I'm up for a mod day. I need a day away from the wife and I need someone with a hacksaw to help me cut down my shifter. I want to get that damn knob on.

Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

well, i've decided not to buy Ian's body kit...i spoke with Mike (italia) and he convinced me that that kit is garbage. i'm gonna keep saving and buy something more of quality

what do you guys think...metaphor front with GT tech type 2 side skirts?

I need pics to make an informed decission.

Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

What all did he say? I mean i know nothing about quality of fiberglass and **** but the kit is pretty solid. The fitment of the front and rear bumpers is perfect I didnt have to adjust anything the only problem i had with any fitment was the passenger side skirt. I mean its not like im pawning off a razzi kit here or anything. Also this is the aerogear kit not the JS kit which should make a difference but again what do i know.

Dom, I may be going wide-body, in which case you're welcome to my GT-Tech Type 2 skirts.

But I would be getting rid of them over the winter for the new project.

Personally, I don't like the Metaphor kit. Plus there's a red Tib with the Metaphor front here in Ottawa. What about the Tomato kit?

MOX

I may need your machining skills buddy. Here's my problem.

I took out the stock seats and put in the racing ones, and the stock bolt holes are too wide for the runners on the racing seats, so they don't line up.

What I was thinking is getting a steel flatbar, and drilling 2 holes for the stock bolt holes in the floor, and mounting the bar, then drilling 2 holes to bolt up the racing seats.

What do you think? Can you do that if I get you the measurements?

Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

ian ~ i honestly, you are selling the kit at a very good price but i wasn't gonna keep the side skirts...just because i don't like them. that's why i contacted Mike for pricing on the GT techs and asked why just the side skirts and thus i told him what i was thinking of getting. basically he informed me that the type of material that aerogear makes their kits out of are not very good, paint doesn't last and because of our canadian winters i practically have to paint it every year and if i decide to take the kit for the winter, because of the foul quality of the kit, the clips would easily break off.

the front end might be stronger but i'm worried for the long run. if it's gonna cost me 1000$ bucks for the kit and install with pain and 500 $ every year to make it look good again...i'd rather spend a good 1500$ on a quality kit and not worry about fixing the damn thing every year.

Again, i'm sorry bro! i'm sure you can sell it on ebay for more then what you're asking.

Gamz ~ i'll keep that in mind. although, the metaphor is super nice...Mike said that he'd have to order from korea but he has lots of Zefiro kits at his warehouse ;) i'm starting to lean towards the whole Zefiro kit or maybe just the front and rear and take your side skirts. I'm gonna reply with a quote and i just might make a trip to New york to pick it up to avoid shipping and duties...plus i've never been to New York and I'm thinking that it may be a great trip to take.

Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

DOH! I forgot Mox is a metal guy!!!

I need to make an adapter plate to connect my throttle body to my supercharger....any way you (MOX) have the machinery to make one? Even if it's ruff, It's the only part I need to install it and I have no idea when Next Gen will produce and ship me mine.

Personally Gamz, if I can, I’m going for Min Garage Wide Body Kit - even if it's a PITA to fit and install – I just love that kit, unless the functionality of it would seriously interfere with the performance of the car, that’s the one I’m aiming for.

One thing I hate about that kit is the sunken wheels look on some of them.

Anyway a wide body would look mint, I love the Tomato kit, it really looks solid.

So when are we getting a mod day - so i can have those gauges installed :)

Mike told me the same thing because i was going to get that kit, if it has already ben fitted and fixed it should be good i would go up and just take a look at it. Fiberglass is fiberglass i think they are all junk as a front bumper, you will get chips, and if the paint is not applyed right it will not stay on. This is why i got the 05 front with a lip because the stock bumpers are very strong and light, my M&s lip wich is fiberglass already has a few rock chips in it! I wish some one would make a body kit out of the same stuff as the stocker, that would be the best.

Chris:

WTF? wide body lol, wich kit are you thinking of getting. you will need new wheels.

Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

I haven't heard good things about the min kit. The Tib I was looking at buying before I picked up mine had a min kit and the fitment sucked, it took a lot of work to get it right and it still wasn't 100%. There's a lot of knock-off's out there masqurading as the real deal and you won't know you've been taken until it's too late.

I know, thus the reason why i'll wait for a fitted kit, if possible.

i just love that dang kit.

it's just the material it's made out of, it's not fiberglass but close...that's why its blue. the paint doesn't stay on it. but if the kit had a better reputation i would have bought it but from the stories that i've read, it doesn't sound very good.

it's ok tho. i'm going with the Zefiro front and rear and i'm gonna buy Gamz side skirts this winter..
