Ok, so i have a CF hood and it has pretty bad sun damage. I'm not into the look of CF anyway and really want to just paint over it. My uncle has the equipment and has painted cars before (not professionally) ive seen his work and it looks good.

My question is where do i get the Tidal wave blue paint?? also my hatch is black and figured i may as well get that done too OR the other option would be to paint the hood black and the hatch can stay how it is...opinions???

Thanks!

ya ill probably paint it black just to make it look a little better but when i get the $$ id like it all to be blue so i don't think ill paint the roof .....

any thoughts on the hood itself? i hated the look of it when i first got it, i wanted to trade for a stalk hood but now its kinda growing on me??

Its a pretty boss hood, I bet it will look good paint matched. I wonder how it would look if you had the lip taped around the front and sides of the extractor part, kind of two tone look. Ive seen it on some vehicles and it looks hot. Wouldnt work too well though if the cf is completely faded out :/

+1, the hood looks decent in shape, not too flashy but a little different.
I agree with the "2 tone" look. For grins, you can wet sand some areas with 600 grit or finer. Then hit the area with some clear to see how it will look.
I think it will be fine.

So, my vote is paint most of it to match the car with some "highlights" in CF showing covered in clear.

You will also want to find some heat shielding for the inside of the hood, it can help make the paint last longer.
I've used a mylar covered "bubble wrap" before.

I did similar to my CF Subaru hood. The OEM hood was steel & about 80lbs (no joke) so I bought a CF hood. The CF hood had a scoop like the OEM, so I had the opening masked out to simulate the OEM hood scoop insert. Then had the hood paint matched with the CF area clearcoated.
Looks like a CF overlay when it's not.
I like the "sleeper" look.

PS, my new hood weighs about 9lbs, big weight savings.
