Hi, my name is Michael (nickname Chezza) and I have a 2003 V6 GK Tiburon.

I love my car and I know most of you can relate. I originally thought of creating a portfolio or some sort of album for my Tibby and it's progression over the years. Now I find NT has already thought of that long ago. Perfect, there is no better place to store the collection of my photos and progress than NT.

I acquired my Tiburon at 2010, all stock. I implemented basic visual modifications back at early 2011 (door handles, hub caps) and with the aid of a close friend of mine, I advance my way to performance modding. 2012 I installed my first mod, a Injen SRI. My shark's performance and sound improved and was thrilled with the result. I now have a more long term plans established, mostly in order of preference:

Modification Plans:

Currently Installed
  • Chrome/silver interior door Handle Bars (2011)
  • T Badge sticker for steering wheel (2011)
  • Tuscani Hub Caps (2011)

Yeah mate not sure. Though as time goes by and I progress I believe my plans may change or adjust. Plenty to do and lots to learn so you never know.

I am actually planning to paint it black again, what I probably should be saying is resprayed. However there could be some nice variations of paint I could use. When the time comes, I will research it in detail. While the Tiburon is reasonably clean, it still has a few scratches and minor flaws gradually appearing which doesn't reveal themselves in my photos. But in a couple years time, I ought to get a fresh coat if I am serious about my car.

Thanks for the kind comments guys, gives me morale to continue. Though, I think I may have to change my plans around as I still am on my final year of P's until Januray 2013 (I got my license late) meaning obvious performance mods could get me in some trouble. I may purchase a new set of tires and work on the aesthetics before then. My Intake is giving me plenty of thrills anyway ;)

One of my good mates introduced me to an Australian website selling NGK ignition leads and NGK Iridium plugs. Looks like its a DIY job, may add those to the list.

is that a CAI? looks like where my injen short ram filter is.
either way, a clean 03!
Yup. Loving it so much, though it isn't a short.

2012 May - New Headlights and Taillights

The eyelids are waiting on the angel eyes.

At first I wasn't too happy about the taillights as they seemed a little ricey however they are already growing on me. Also they look great at night. Some custom work painting OEM black may be something to consider in the future. The Headlights are just wicked.

Thank you very much mate :)

DON'T put Ferrari badges, like some other Aussies have...
haha don't you worry good sir, it won't happen. I am planning to add scissor doors and convert this to a lambo.

Haha kidding.

My left Taillight has moisture getting inside :(

Is there a basic and effective method to solving that issue? I did some searching and found that people suggest to re-seal them. Does that involve the entire place them in the Oven routine or can I get solve it with a more simple solution?

I will live with them for now. The shipping and all over the original price do not make taillights cheap. I am thinking of doing some custom work on them one day and paint the inside OEM black to look more authentic.

If I can only find out what exactly is causing the exposure I can at least try seal it.

Nice looking car,
Egine bay looks good to. A little CD2 would do wonders in there. I like radiator shrouds to help cover some of that bracketery and what not.
Doing wheels? ** opps just saw the future mod list :) **
It is your style but I'm so not a fan of Lambo doors.

Thanks mate. hehe Don't worry about the doors, tis a joke :p
I honestly want my car looking clean and OEM as possible without looking too ricey, or have stickers, neons, colourful lights, scissor doors etc. Though when I complete the Intake I will have plenty of Stainless Steel/silver pieces.

Just got my new Stage 4 Manifold combo installed, a k.spec 60mm TB and NGK iridium plugs and leads. Unfortunately I could not install my phenolic spacer due to hood clearance issues. Anyway, the car has shown signs of improvement in response and overall power. I will need to do proper Dyno testing etc but taking a very amateur approach of merely timing 0 to 100 on a stop watch it went from 8.3 (SRI only) average to 7.6 (latest mods).

Overall I am thrilled and can't wait to get the entire exhaust done, cams and tuning.

Looking sweet man! I was looking at a phenolic spacer too, but if you have clearance issues I might not now.

You going to do the headers as well when you do the exhaust and cams??

Thanks mate

Yeah I am going to get RPW 2.5" extractors (I wish these headers were 2.25) from our kangaroo land. Get them ceramic coated and all. My car breaths well now, just need it to exhale equally as well :)

*Edit* Didn't end up getting the coat. As much as I want to spend on the best for my Tibby I still couldn't bring myself to pay another $350 on top of $600. Would of been great though.

Update:

At last, my RPW Extractors have arrived! It took over 3 months for them to come in with delay after delay, but they are finally mine!

NICE!!

Glad to see you're making some progress! Let me know how they go, as I'm keen to get a set and get them installed.

Also, let me know how you went with the install, no doubt they are going to eb a right ***** to install though.....

Thanks mate. I am getting the entire exhaust installed by a shop named 'USA Exhaust' as a friend of mine was very satisfied with his system built there and they at least know about the Flowmasters and Magnaflows I imported. The bloke there is one of the few friendly exhaust mechanics who actually took an interest in the Tiburon platform (All others I showed had no idea what they were and simply didn't care) and prepared to install the Extractors for me. However due to some fitment issues and his concern about the system being too noisy for legal standards he has convinced me to purchase Magnaflow Mufflers as oppose to the Super 44s. I hope they still sound reasonably aggressive despite being more quiet.

Looks great is it a 5 or 6 speed? :p
Cheers! It is a V6 4 speed Auto. Wish it had more gears.

RPW are made in Australia, so basically waited for them to be made if I remember.
Yeah exactly, their suppliers took sometime to get them made. What is interesting is that the USA Exhaust guy recognized the Headers and checked his product list. He discovered that these are developed by 'Hurricane Headers' who is a renowned company in Australia for such products. Oddly though, if you explore Hurricane's website you will find that they don't stock any V6 Tiburon Headers. I'm not sure of the logic but I suspect they only like to produce these upon special orders and never like to advertise these in their range, only act as suppliers.

Fortunately for me, RPW happens to sell these cheaper than he could of offered. The booklet showed his cost price of $580+ just for the shop to grab a pair.
